Yep, only for me it's worse than that. My last 3 paychecks have been under 500, that's just pathetic, I've done nothing wrong either on time for every load usually always a few hours early. when I first started here I was getting 3100 average, now I'm very lucky if I see 2400. Last week I had just over 2100. That's just terrible, and insulting to receive a 317.00 paycheck for staying out 3-4 weeks at a time, and to think I was thinking about leasing, thank god I didn't make that mistake, they treated me good at first then for no reason miles dropped. I've put my notice in I won't continue to work for peanuts while I'm never home.
Do you think the pay/mileage decrease for National has something to do with all the Regional routes now??? If so, I might have to quickly rethink my National Curtainside choice!
I'm not really sure about that, maybe with you being curtain side it won't make a difference? I remember a driver for Roehl who I rode with home to fl for Xmas time was telling me how when he first started he was running like crazy, but after he got some raises his miles started to drop, I never believed him because of how I WAS running, now I do because I'm seeing it first hand. I've been sitting at a truck stop now for 5 hours waiting on a load. I've sent one message to my FM and haven't received a msg back. For the past month I've been treated unfairly, it doesn't make any sense to me, like I said, I've never been late, I take every load, I don't complain, until now.. But that's because I've reached my breaking point with Roehl. I can't support myself and pay bills with a whoppin 400 dollar paycheck. So I'm moving on, it was good in the beginning of times. Not anymore
T_Trucker have you thought about switching to flatbed? That's what I did, and then became a trainer, until I left. Trainers always get the good loads, they wanna make it look good for the student drivers.
I thought about flatbed before but I'd rather not right now. Honestly I really don't want to work here anymore, I LOVED this company in the beginning and now it seems I'm just getting screwed left and right for NO reason. I've narrowed my next company down to national carriers or J&R schugel. From what I hear both are good company's yah pay decent. Better than 400, that's forsure
Same feeling I have/had with my last employer, woke up one day and said that's it. Wasn't happy anymore so time to move on to something different, not that its going to be necessarily better but I will draw my own conclusions. My friends asked me "Do you think you will like it?"..How am I suppose to answer that? Hmm, I just quit my job "Probably not going to like it..lol" I will have to like it for one year year at least cuz I'm not paying for my schooling!!!
If you're a new driver, Roehl is a great company to start for. They have a top notch training program. I started there. They didn't have the freight lanes I needed to manage visits in my divorce, so I had to leave, but overall a good company. You mentioned the 7/7. FYI that is a slipseat position, you have to live close to a terminal so you can drop the whole truck and drive home in your car for your hometime. The same goes for the 7/4 7/3. If you have that availability, you might want to think about going on to be a trainer yourself, and only go out when they have a student to train (since it sounds like you would prefer part time work as a supplement), what better way to go into retirement than by teaching someone to fill your shoes?
Is anyone running the 7/7 now in the southeast.. How are the miles/pay? Also see where they have family insurance at around $80.00 a week for hometime drivers.
