Good to hear Dave.... miles are a good thing. .. been running hard as well.. I would update on mileage but because there has no5 been an update with my earlier miles if they are going to count or not... hope mine goes as fast as yours.. "c" lets me drive as much as I want unless the load requires we drive as a team so to speak. Be safe and keep it upright and moving forward.

Oct 30, 2014 In my own TRUCK #3101

OK OK OK here we go, My trainer was kind enough to run as a team on Monday from NY to Richfield WI 972 miles, I maxed out my 11 and he brought us "home" we got in at 130am I took a quick shower and washed clothes and at 0730 I tested out...YEAH YEAH it was a long 8 weeks and I know I was a little sore that at 15000 miles exactly there wasnt a truck sitting next to us but now Millis comes thru like they always have, I get assigned to a beautiful Freightliner 2013 with 305,000 on it. I can not tell you how exciting it was to be handed the keys. Now I have driven some big boats as a Captain but I really think this tops it. I had a great talk with my dispatcher, which is the same I had with "R". I was given the option to go home or go on the road for a trip and then home...duh lets ride...I get a trip to Alabama a state that I have spent alot of time in. I head to the Walmart to get some supplies and in 3 hours I have the truck clean and stocked and I am hooked to my load...Am I ready for this??? YES I am.... I really like the Freighliner, dont get me wrong the Kenworth is a polished truck but there is just something I like about this truck... I run thru Chicago and bed down for the night...up at 5am and pound out the 595 miles and arrive to the place and they have over night parking BONUS I get backed in and slide my rears and chill... make a nice meal and talked to another Millis driver for a while and off to sleep...The first day was great! Yes I have a camera in my unit, doesnt bother me a bit.

I do want to give a special shout out to Chris at Millis the instructor at Richfield...When I arrived there 9 weeks ago I knew nothing, now with his "guidence" I am out on my own. It was great to test out with him. "R" was a great trainer we got along and he taught me soooooo much now it is up to me to continue to learn and go forward..Less is more slower is faster....

    Week 1 on my own..

I will do a weekly update on Tuesdays for the first 6 months of me being out on my own. A daily log is just too much and I think kinda boring. Our week at Millis goes Monday at Midnight to Monday at Midnight, with that said here is my weekly miles
    11/04 544.0
    11/05 453.5
    11/06 352.7
    11/07 385.1
    11/08 217.6
    11/09 OFF
    11/10 569.3
2522.2 for the week and I was off Saturday by 1pm until Monday at 0800 its has been nice to have the last 2 weekends off a big thanks to my dispatcher "O". I am going to be out the next 2 weeks straight. The week in general went good, the GPS in this unit is a little different than the one I had during training but I am getting used to it. I generally do not stay at truckstops at night I like the Walmart and then I will get my fuel during the day and get my shower when no one is at the Truck Stops plus you have to have the 30 min break so it just seems to work out for me. Backing has gone good only one little issue at a tight delivery that took me a few shots at it, but with each delivery you learn more. Living in the truck is no issue, to be honest it is much like living on the boat except my own bathroom and shower. I have seen some crazzy driving both from 4 wheelers but some truck drivers should not be on the road, its scary. I eat 95% of my meals in the truck, I will usually "reward" myself one a week with a nice sit down. I did have a windshield drivers side wiper fly off in the rain which provided for a few very tense minutes but I got in to a wayside called maintance and we decided that in the morning I would just drive to our service center in Trenton Ohio since I was 20 minutes from them for repairs, got up in the morning nice sunny day, got to service and it was fixed before I was done with my shower. They also fixed a couple of small issues I found with the truck...hats off to the service guys here at Millis. If any of you have questions let me know...

Captain Dave, thanks for taking the time to post everything you have. I'm in the process of looking at driving and Millis is on my short list of companies.

Good to hear things are going well, I have been placed in my own truck 3 weeks ago?? Just finished my 1st 3000 plus week. Yea me. Truck #3020. Currently heading home for Christmas. Merry Christmas by the way or Happy Holidays or which ever holiday saying you prefer. =0). Anyway glad to hear and see that you are still keeping this thing going. Millis has far been a better company to work for than some of the others that I did back in the day (12 years ago). Not going to lie there has been some rough spots but not Millis fault. I am happy with my choice and glad I choose well. See you soon Captn, keep it straight, upright and moving forward.
