It allows you to start or stop the engine to warm up or cool off the truck in the morning or whenever. Even if you have a bunk heater, warming up the engine is a good idea.Steelyd Thanks this.

this may sound stupid, but why cant you drill a hole in hte dash and move the key? extend the wires and mount it in a better spot?
Steelyd Thanks this. -
Not stupid, but not possible in my case as it's not my truck. Also, it's a 2014, so I'm thinking the boss might not be keen on the idea.
I'm surprised, with all the room on a Western Star dash that they themselves haven't found a better spot.

Well speaking of I just bent mine to heck my key getting in my truck early today.

I drive a 2004 4900 EX and my issue with the ignition is hitting it with the shifter.I had a smaller key made and it has seemingly made the needed change.wally world made me one for less than $2.00.
Steelyd Thanks this. -
Rough luck jsprocket. I'll let you know if I get something made on my 3d printer. Maybe it will also work on a kw. I've never heard of hitting the ignition with the shifter.
