Celadon has flatbed division and hires out of Maine.
Flatbed trucks on their website look really good. -
Bottled water, rocks,... dont forget crates of friggen strap cutting rocks!
Farm and machinery. Thats about all I have hauled out of there,.. oh yeah,.. lumber.
I did a really dumb thing last time I was in Maine. I got loaded with 48k in lumber. I went and got loaded and forgot to spread the axles before getting loaded,.. doh!. This was my first trailer where the axle slid and not thinking (Rain man moment,.. Kmart Sucks) I check the gauge back on the trailer and yup,.. I'm showing 37-38k back there.
This trailer wouldnt lock the brake on just the axle you needed to slide,.. it locked them both,.. else soon as you released the air the button popped out and the pins would lock before you could slide it. I tried to use the trolly brake a couple times with no success. So fully loaded I drop it down into reverse and start to push to get the front axle to come forward,.. POP! Broke the left drive axle. Truck not moving. I had to set the axle lock and limp it to the Pete dealership there in Bangor. They took excellent care of me. I highly recommend them.

When I was with TMC I ran up into southern Maine a few times to load out back to Texas. You can park at the south end of 95 and observe traffic for a few hours and see what larger national flatbed outfits are moving in and out of Maine. But wether they hire out of Maine is another story. You'll probably find most of the national carriers hauling back from their are getting broker loads

Sammons runs a add for Portland, Maine
-
Not flatbed but check out Superior Carriers in Auburn. It tanker but they are hiring, will train, and the pay is great. There is lots of freight in and out of the state, not just lumber and water lol. If you want more info I can pm you.
