actually trucking has been pretty good to me, but ive seen lots of people taken advantage of already in my short career especially in lease purchasing.. I have a plan and am following it as much as possible and have pretty good luck. I ask lots of questions and look for input from those that are successful and appreciate all the input i can get.

Being in Florida might play heavily into why it is you're getting $1/mi. You're lucky to get that much down there.

I just checked, and I'm surprised that both Mercer and Landstar only require one year experience now.

Just my .02 about Florida, it sucks if you haul here and need a re load, I live here so I can take that extra day or two off while here waitung for the better load out as I am not parked at a truckstop

yeah it can be bad but not so much if you live here

im from iowa where trucking was much more profitable. I moved to florida because i love it here and my actual back yard is the beach. I will sacfrice a few bucks to live where i want, but i know to make the money ill have to get up north and run hard then get home to enjoy the beach.

Landstar makes a lot of money renting trailers,,cost per mile owning a trailer is much cheaper than renting,,buy a trailer best bet

Actually, living in central FL like he does, leasing on to the right carrier will make him far more money than an authority holder. How do I know? I've done both.

You can make money coming out of FL if you're leased to the right company. My average to the truck for FL outbound legal loads this year is near $3 p/m. As gypsy said, it's way easier to be at home looking for freight and sniping the right load to leave with. Just don't speed down A1A to get to your truck. ;)

Mercer or Landstar ? Shucks, don't think this thread fits the criteria in the guidelines section. Probly gonna have to be removed.
