To be honest i find this difficult to believe...
As a former state trooper we got accused of stuff like this all the time..but the truth is we did not have to make things up or play silly games.
There are plenty of stupid people out there doing rediculous crap and had we wanted to we could have written hundreds of tickets daily.
People can get caught on video and still try to lie their way out of it.
My advice....pay the ticket and wear your seatbelt... -
Your crying about your own stupidity. First rule is you do not move a vehicle without a seatbelt. Your stupid actions got you a ticket, it is a no point ticket, pay it and move on.

Why do you need to remove your seatbelt in order to reach your paperwork? I always have mine easily in reach and it is NEVER on the dash. NOTHING goes on the dash in my truck.
I'm wondering whether the OP had a lot more than just his paperwork on the dash and the officer put him to the test to see how far he'd have to go in order to get to his paperwork. When rolling across the scales it doesn't help your cause to use your dash as the "catch-all" for paperwork, garbage, atlas, etc. etc. etc. Leave it clean and clear.KSGunny Thanks this. -
When pulled over or in a scale, you do NOT take off the seat belt unless instructed to, or the truck is on fire.

Update: I called the laramie county district attorney ben sherman & explained what happened in the Cheyenne, Wyoming Weigh Station and ended up getting the case dismissed!
chicago don, pattyj, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this. -
However, use this as a lesson, and don't move the truck unless your seat belt is on. -
He did ask what's the DOT Officers name, however I forgot!

It was like Shiah or something, and I explained an older gentleman!
