I've been really considering getting my cdl. I've been in the warehouse field close to 20 yrs. Most of that time i was married and was discouraged by my then wife on getting my cdl because the only route had i considered was paid training (otr). Now divorced and my kids are older i think i'm ready to do this. After all the research i've done my biggest concerns are which company, and possibly being rejected because of something in my history that i may have missed telling them or something they feel isn't acceptable. I lived in dallas for 5 yrs. Just before moving back to baltimore i got pulled over for speeding. Got tickets for speeding, and expired registration (i was moving in 2 wks). Anyhow i do plan on taking care of it (when i can afford it). And i do plan on sharing that info during the recruitment process. Other than that i'm clean. Drug free. No felonies. No dui. Should i have anything to worry about? I just don't want to leave my job only to get rejected then be unemployed. Help! And thanks.
About to apply

Better get that taken care of before starting the industry. How long ago did this happen?
ejay410 Thanks this. -
Also you might wanna check to see if there's a hold on your license for unpaid tickets.

need all your ducks in a row before even thinking about applying. you get pulled over for what ever reason. your shut down right on the spot. and no company wants to rescue their truck.

Get those tickets paid off and you're good to go!
Only problem would be if the tickets are 15mph over the speed limit.ejay410 Thanks this. -
Shouldn't be an issue.I think most companies give you 3 tickets in 3 years before they flat out deny you.As Chinatown said as long as not 15+ over you shouldn't have an issue.Just take care of them before they come back to haunt you.

You should contact the drivers license people in both your state and the jurisdiction in Texas where you got the ticket. Do it now. If your state and Tx have a reciprocal agreement, your license may already be suspended. Yeah, I know they should have contacted you if they suspspended it, but it ain't always so. After you get your drivers license cleared you should be good to go. Call some recruiters and see what is out there. I doubt you will have a problem getting into a good program. Good luck.

Thanks guys! Very helpful! Now I'm about to file for bankruptcy. I did some research on if whether or not I could include the fines in my bankruptcy and couldn't find a definitive answer. Does anyone know about that? And does anyone know about setting up payment plans w/ fines (specifically in TX)? The total that I owe is roughly $1100. Thanks again.
