G'day all. Been learning to drive this bad boy this week. Going quite well, got the hang of the gears in about 5 minutes, now I just gotta work on rev counts when I shift, the poor instructor cringes a bit when I grind on the downshift haha.
Any tips from you experienced blokes would be greatly appreciated. Forgot to get the year, but its a Cat C15 Acert, 18sp Eaton Fuller box. Stick is a bit sloppy since it's a training truck, but other than that it's a dream to drive

Don't be afraid to kick it in gear if it resists you. If sparks aren't flying you aren't trucking. You have to dominate that truck to show it who's boss. If it gets uppity with you you'll have to climb up on the hood and drag your balls back and forth along the windshield to shame it into submission. If you do this while your instructor is in the cab he'll know he just trained his most finest student, and immediately recommend you for the final road test.

watch your tacometer, should be about 300 rpm between gears,,don't over rev,,practice varying your rpm 300 to 350 revs sitting still,,slowly raise your rpm and lowing your rpm,,down shift at 1700 rpm upshift at 1400 rpm, smooth control of your rmp is the way,,good luck mate,,
Viking86 Thanks this. -
I so want one of those bumpers!!!

Hell yea! It even has the pull pin in the right place for our trucks. Is it an aftermarket or factory bumper? Is it possible to get the VIN from that truck? :smt118
