It will go on your credit. Its not a theory, ive worked the system for years on old debts from long ago. Once the debts are so old you can have them removed.by disputing the debts. Yes it negativly effects the credit, but there are ways around it. Junk debts like this are seldom disputed by the debtor, and if they are its easy to get them off your ###.

Chinatown Thanks this. -
Well, #### me for paying my bills......

Wow, that sucks. I wonder if you could take them to small claims court? Maybe I have been watching too much "peoples court", but I think you have a rock solid case.

You make this sound like nothing happens for 7 years, like the collection agency is just going to sit there and say 'Aw, gee. Guess we can't do anything.' You are so wrong about that. Without legal intervention, the collection agency has an order. And they will work to carry it out, including posting negative reports on the major credit unions. He won't be able to buy a house, get a job, or even rent a miserable apartment.
"Do nothing for 7 years" is absolutely the worst thing advice this guy can get. Talking to a lawyer, not some trucker in an open forum, is the right thing to do. And he's doing it.joseph1135 and FatDaddy Thank this. -
Well when your dirt ####### poor living in the back seat of a car for several years there aint much they can do. You cant get blood out of a turnip can you? I never said what he should do, I confirmed what another suggested is possible. my debts for the most part have since been paid, the ones not paid, are being paid. Better late than never

Youve never played the system so how would you know? I bought a house last fall that is being paid for, bought a motorcycle 2 years ago, thats being paid for. Bought a car, even rented several properties all with bad credit (score less than 600) so all you state here is very possibleChinatown Thanks this.

That doesn't show how smart you are. It shows how dumb the lenders and banks, are.

That may be the way it works in Michigan, but not in the other 56 states.
One can even go so far as to let the collection agency take you to court and still beat it. In court just say, "Prove it!" and the collection agency can't prove anything, because they will only have some photocopy garbage they purchased from Sears or whoever, and the judge rules in your favor.
I didn't write the 7 year rule; it was written by lawyers and approved/made into law, by politicians.Gunner75 Thanks this. -
You can get loans, rentals, and credit, all you need is a down payment large enough to make it worthwhile
