Replace all the wheel seals from the start, and that will tell you any brake components needed. Go ahead and replace the bearings and races while your in there unless he has records of them being swapped. All airbags as well.
Count on brake lines, and maybe a valve or two. Doing it all at the same time at home is far different than someone buying a truck that sat and is fixing it as they go

I'm still on the fence,.. and may not get either truck. The Coronado has a driver in it that like me wants to go O/O and is supposed to be buying his own truck. Thats when its supposed be become available to me for purchase. I'm not waiting all year for this guy to grow a set and make the jump. I was scared to go out of my comfort zone,. so I understand his hesitation. One thing I've learned growing older,.. no one is going to do it for you. If you want to see a change,.. your going to have to make it happen.

I also like Pete 386,.. and lots and lots of them on the market in my price range with the specs I'm looking for. So who knows,.. between now and next spring anything can happen.

Though I keep picturing myself up in that 379, seat on the floor, sitting down low, big chrome pipes, that sexy stance that the 379 has. Its like pulling into a cruise spot driving virtually any big block muscle car of the 60's. Its an instant conversation piece. The 379 draws a similar crowd of pecker envy and well wishers. Like an old pair of Levis,.. they will never go out of style.

I think you should think a bit before you buy a 500k mile glider for $70k when a new one is only 105k. 0 miles and a 400k mile warranty on everything!

 

Who's selling them for $105? Fitzgeralds quoted me $118-$120k. My carrier's truck is exactly how I want one and most of the others with similar mileage are in the same price range.

That and not sure I could get a decent interest rate on a loan that large, (If I even qualify). I could only put $30k down and then I'd have to find 100% financing for a trailer. My credit score is only at 708. Been working hard to get it that far.

Also,.. on the Coronado, my carrier will hold the note and finance through my settlements. No brainer there IMO. Then I can use my cash to get the trailer I want.
Thats why I think its the most sensible way.

Anything else and I'm spreading myself thin cash wise and praying I can recoup the money before anything drastic happens.

My bad ..the Columbia's are up to 110k. Didn't know you where looking at a Coronado. Still 100% positive that with a 700 credit score GE would finance you at 10k down and 8%. I had exact same score and had 50k in debt and still got 8% and 10k down. Remember lenders lend a WHOLE lot easier on new trucks....

It just seems like a lot for 500k miles and zero warranty. We almost went bankrupt when my ,680k mile detriot threw a rod. It was a 2003 centry i bought for $40k with 600k miles. $32k for new block and labor with an inframe....ooh but those Detroit's go for a million miles! Mine did not. Basicly a total loss of 40k.

Warranty is now pretty important to me.

Wow,.. I can get a new C15 with 3 yr warranty for $26k.

And say what you want about the ACERT motors,.. I have an 04 BXS Pre DPF ACERT in this Columbia with just shy of 1.2 million, never been rebuilt, no smoke, smooth and as long as I stay out of the mountains,.. I can average upper 5's with an occasional 6 mpg tank for overall MPG.

Mechanically I've done little to nothing. Valve adjustment and that was it. Mainly electrical gremlins and all the OEM hoses and lines dry rotting and failing on me. Truck has been a workhorse,.. I really cant complain.

Your making me skiddish about a Detroit now. LOL

Warranty would be nice,.. but if its in the shop, I'm not making money and that big note is due whether the truck is rolling or not. Warranty wont pay for my down time or hotel expenses.

our glider is belching out 7.4 mpg at 74. The $1900 monthly payment don't hurt so bad any more.
