^ I arrived in Boston at my appointed time and was told I had no appointment. Told to sleep on the dirty street until the next day when MAYBE they could unload me. I made some demands from TransAm for extra pay to sit out all night. Got no reply. Turned off the refer, my phone rang.

They ask me about the refer unit, I said sometimes other drivers, parked nearby shut them off because the noise disturbs them. They told me to turn it back on. I told them I was away from the truck, that I was not paid to be at the truck, not my problem. Extra demanded pay followed.

I agree with everything HTQ says about the new system. Sure it was put in place to be more efficient, sure it will take a good long time to sort it out and even get back to the mediocre standard of before.

Despite some of the disgruntled (or maybe in spite of) comments. I have been thinking of becoming a recruiter for TransAm. Wanted to seek opinions of what I may be giving up besides some miles as I would still be driving. Just visiting schools and talking to students. I made it clear that I would NOT push leasing as I am not in favor of it from the outset of a student's career. What do you think? Have any of you been approached. For its problems, I still think TransAm is a great place to start a driving career. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I think you would be a fine recruiter, George! Your sincerity and honesty would be a plus to anyone considering TransAm.

How are things going with getting a house? Good luck with that and other (trucking) decision making.

Dennis, sorry about your daughter's dog. That is rough.

Are you running into any bad weather, Pete? I saw some saying that there was black ice on I 80 in Wyoming.

The temp dropped like a rock here today....yesterday over 70 degrees, today it hasn't reached 32 yet. They are beginning to talk about measurable snow.:biggrin_2557:

I agree with HTQ, from your posts, you give off a certain type of earnestness and I think students would be glad to get the information about TransAm from you.

I think I maybe counted as one of the disgruntled commenters yet I have not ruled out recommending TransAm to new drivers. I have in the past been contacted by PM from students who are taking the driver training program I took (I made posts about my CDL school here). I told them TransAm could be a good choice for a new driver. Right now today, I don't know if I would make the same recommendation. However, if the bugs of the new dispatch system arrangement start to work itself out, driver support and general operations improve, in what I expect to be my last two months with TransAm, I would be willing to give a positive recommendation in the future.

Right now I feel if you have a super clean: driving, criminal, and work history you should look to another choice for a starter company. If you have some kind of issue in any of those areas, TransAm maybe the best choice of 2nd tier employers. Maybe far and away the best choice.

I ran north to south, then due east out of Denver yesterday. Reports said it was "snow flurries", it looked like a full on mini snow storm to me. Blowing winds and snow, ice covered streets, vehicles off the road. Got better as I got about 100 miles SE. In Garden City, KS now and the weather is fine.
