They will be able to get you home Lwood. You are in their hiring area. Two days every 2 weeks is not a problem .....other than I must warn the students considering TransAm there are a couple of times a year that it will be more difficult for you to get your home time scheduled. TransAm only allows a certain percentage of the fleet to be off duty at any given time. May is a popular month for time off ....lots of family reunions, graduations, etc., then you have the holidays ....you will not get Thanksgiving or Christmas off. Plan to stay out at least 3 weeks, put in for your time off as soon as you possibly can so that you can schedule and plan your own family holidays. .....You learn to work with it and make your own special family times.

I should add that if they have hired you, they will get you home for your home time and it won't matter where you are at. They will get you a load as close to home as possible and deadhead you from there. You will not be paid for those miles, but they will pay the fuel cost for you to get home. Your home time does not start until you are home. When you go back on duty they will deadhead you to where ever you need to pick up at and those miles will be paid the same as if you were loaded. Unless they have changed it, that is the way that it always worked for us.

Freight still has to run and somebody has to do it. The trick for holidays, is to put in for your time as soon as you can. Remember, most of the drivers out here have family. Everybody wants to be with family on Thanksgiving and christmas. Can't happen.

The company I'm with, polls all their drivers, and asks them what holidays they want off. Since I'm not married and have no kids or parents left, Christmas doesn't mean much to me. I'll leave that for the others. I usually take my vacation around Thanksgiving. I have some relatives that I am close to and try to visit with them at that time.
