Thanks for answering jay, Panhandle. I'm too old to multi-task anymore and had to take care of something.
jay, very few OTR companies are going to get you home on Thanksgiving and Christmas....it is the nature of the job. It is not the life for everyone and can be very hard on families.....especially if you have kids. You learn to make your own holidays. What matters to those that love you is just being with you no matter what the calender says. We usually had our family Christmas before December 25.....Santa knows Dad's schedule and would bring the presents then. I also saved back a few little things for the kids on Christmas day ....they were cool with that, they felt like they had two Christmas's.

jdmredneck, how is school? Are you driving yet?
-
This is how George described TransAm and the trucks.
Pay is so-so, hometime is good and the trucks you will drive are the most user friendly in the industry. All are automatics and specd to the nines with 2500 watt inverters, microfridges, APUs bunk heaters. A TransAm truck is very comfy. The Kenworths are great. Definitely made with drivers in mind. TransAm keeps their drivers comfortable.jdmredneck33 and dennisroc Thank this. -
Now I feel guilty ....I'm gonna have to take that sticky note off of my screen ....you know, the one that says don't say anything if jaso is online!

You know we love you jaso!dennisroc, passport220 and jungHo Thank this. -
Well I'm aware of that my dad has been a otr truck driver for 30 sum years and most of the companies he drove for got him home for Christmas it shouldn't be a issue for trans am to make that happen
-
Then I would say your dad was a lucky man and you should look in to the company that he drove with for 30 years.
Panhandle flash, gntorres61 and dennisroc Thank this. -
They merged in with Shaffer now he is a lease op for a flatbed company I have no interest in doing flatbed I want reefer and plus I would have to be 23 I'm just 21

No, I get home between 2-3 weeks. Put in for your hometime when you start a new trip. If the days you want aren't available, your DM will give you available days you can take off. Don't worry, there is enough freight to get you home. Trans Am is really good about getting you home.passport220, dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this.
-
Jay, truth is TransAm has to keep at least 50 percent of the fleet active for the holidays. You would have to put in 8 weeks in advance (estimate) and thats if available. Then you would have to work straight through with no hometime in between until the holiday. I have no children of my own so the holidays are no real big deal to me. My wife and family are understanding of this. I would rather continue to get home every two weeks and work the holidays. There are tradeoffs in trucking and this is a big one.dennisroc, jungHo, HometimeQueen and 2 others Thank this.
