You have to be related to someone who already works there in order to get hired, right?
nshore harleyguy Thanks this. -
I'm sure many state highway departments have a very hard time hiring AND KEEPING qualified drivers. Although, these positions may be a good fit for many seeking to quit OTR trucking and get back to a home life. It's interesting though, they will consider those with no experience.

They have a picture of a snowplow in the ad. I knew they had one in Arkansas, I just have never seen it.
double yellow, Emulsified, bullhaulerswife and 4 others Thank this. -
Sand truck = dump truck with one guy in the back with a coffee can.
I've seen it. On the interstate, no less!
Seasonal temp positions are hard to fill for obvious reasons. On-call is a rough way to earn a living. -
Snow plow? They were using a construction road grader to clear the snow from that big storm a few years back.
-
State highway jobs about $10-12/hr.
-
The article states that these are permanent jobs not just winter seasonal...I guess only time will tell though.
-
Yep. You can be a permanent employee and only get hours when it snows.
Couldn't hurt to go do it if it sounds good and works out.
