^ Thanks cool. I did look back at some dates and I must have graduated later in December than I first thought, so maybe you do have a chance to get in before the holidays. Good luck.

The Cranky one is right (cry me a river if you don't like being told your right!) It is one of the reasons I went with TA.
I had not held a valid driver's license in the USA for many years before I got my CDL, other companies had a problem with it. Swift invited me to orientation, recruiter told me my license situation was fine. Then I read online that what a Swift recruiter says carries little to no weight. Would have likely been bounced by Swift had I wasted my time going to their orientation. -
Yea they sent me my pre hire letter and it said a conditional offer
-
another thing to you newbies
TA will send you a bus ticket to orientation
reason for this is bus ticket is reimbursible large % of people never show up
if you make your own arrangements ( ie fly ) they will reimburse you up to bus ticket cost
for me the flight was actually cheaper then the bus booked far enough aheaddennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Ok I know they are probably going to send me to rockwall but I wanna go to olathe

My understanding is the apu does circulate warm fuel into the fuel tanks. That works to a certain degree but it does not circulate fast enough to prevent gelling when the overall conditions for gelling become to great (guess it is more than just raw temp). Last winter at those times we did get a fleet wide message, that if we would be running through certain areas, we where authorized us to buy additives with instructions on the additives to buy.
I will NEVER forgive Dr. Sholl for violating my head with that stupid phrase!gntorres61, dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
I am in the Woodward, OK McDonald's truck parking. Thanks for saving me a spot Jaso. Finishing a 740 mile round trip, trailer shag. Dodge City to just south of Ardmore, OK pick up an empty, and back to Dodge again. Preplan shows a two stop, good mileage load out of Dodge up to New England. Good if I can beat the snow.

I was doing some reading last night and read an article by a trucking industry analyst. He said that there were 4 things that the trucking industry needs to overcome...... the driver shortage, the rate on freight (while freight is up the rate has flatlined), the HOS regulations, and Washington politics.
No surprise there and I would agree with most of what he said. There were a couple of sentences in his analysis of the so called driver shortage that were eyebrow raising. He basically said that because the smaller carriers have started to raise their cpm and improve their benefits it has contributed to the driver shortage.
That by paying drivers better, they were luring drivers away from the mega-carriers and contributing to the overall shortage of drivers and cheap freight that our economy needs to keep rolling.
dennisroc and passport220 Thank this. -
Congrats, jay! I hope the timing all works out for you. I think you will enjoy orientation and training in Rockwall. After training you may still be dispatched out of Olathe. There is nothing set in stone about where your dispatcher will be based.
