I will idle if I have to, if it gets that cold. I don't know how drivers can idle on a regular basis. The air compressor blowing off excess air wakes me up even if it is a truck, two trucks away doing it.

I am like Vinny from that movie My Cousin Vinny. The noise doesn't bother me at all but I know it bothers a lot of drivers. When you switch companies if you go to one that doesn't have APUs you will have to get used to it.

HTQ My hours aren't the weird. I will be starting late tomorrow about 0300 almost bankers hours. On my way to Pompano Beach and getting out of this terrible cold weather. It is warmer here in Olathe than in North Platte but I have a feeling that is going to change.

I missed something. Why are we idling when we have bunk heaters. My load out of Baxter Healthcare got switched. Headed for Omaha instead of Champlin MN. Have had my fill of Minny thanks to the multiple breakdowns last month. Stopped at the Flying J in West Knoxville x369 for the night. My fuel solution had me stop at Mebane NC as usual. But my DM2 did not turn on my fuel card until 30 minutes after I texted him, by then I skipped town. Got 50 gallons at x398 Knoxville Pilot and came over here. New fuel solution which I checked after I arrived here. Fillup at Knoxville Pilot x374 (no room for tractor trailers at that stop-been there, done that. Going to my second fuel stop on my original fuel solution in Lebanon TN to fill up. Tomorrow. Enough.

Good news for us who drive the secondary highways from Oklahoma or Dallas to the meat plants like Dodge City in southern Kansas!

I saw yesterday they are building what looks like a nice, new, independent travel plaza near Seiling, OK, off route 183. At least it looks nice from the little artist's rendition painting on the little sign in front of the construction site that I saw while driving past at 62mph. Soon more choices than just the McDonald's truck parking in Woodward!

Do you normally get so little sleep? Wow! Hope you can hunker down or hibernate and get a bit more sleep than that.

The reason they will want to idle is so the fuel doesn't gell. It happened a lot last year with the trucks and reefer units. Thats why it is allowed only below 20 degrees. This winter already looks like it will be worse than last years. Last year I had a few trailers I had to bring into TK cause of fuel gelling

How to prevent the fuel from gelling?
