0300 is late? Wow! !!
HTQ, what did you fix for dinner? Have you and the girls done much baking lately?
Here's a joke for ya:
A truck driver would amuse himself by running over lawyers. Whenever he saw a lawyer walking down the side of a road, he would swerve to hit him, enjoying the loud "THUMP," and then swerve back onto the road. One day, as the trucker was driving along, he saw a priest hitchhiking. He thought he would do a good turn and pulled the truck over. He asked the priest, "Where are you going, Father?" "I'm going to the church 5 miles down the road, " replied the priest. "No problem, Father! I'll give you a lift.. Climb in the truck."
The happy priest climbed into the passenger seat and the truck driver continued down the road. Suddenly the truck driver saw a lawyer walking down the road and instinctively he swerved to hit him. But then he remembered there was a priest in the truck, so at the last minute he swerved back away, narrowly missing the lawyer. However, even though he was certain he missed the lawyer, he still heard a loud "THUD!" Not understanding where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirror and when he didn't see anything, he turned to the priest and said, "I'm sorry, Father. I almost hit that lawyer. "
"I know, " replied the priest. "Lucky I got him with the door! "![]()

There is an additive that you put in the fuel but the best way is to idle
-
Ok where can u get this at?? And also I thought most truck had heaters in the fuel tank?
-
ok the worse thing you can do to these modern engines is idle
that is when you really have def problems
HTQ posted a thread on protecting your equipment in the winter
if you gell up a truck or trailer this is driver error ALWAYS
you always have control of the situation
If it is really cold below zero and your apu cant keep you warm
idle yes but know what the repercussion in downtime will cost you later on
TA will let you idle because so many drivers have problems
but those problems are avoidable if you hope to be more then a steering wheel holder
the biggest single time you need to worry is fueling say in Dallas and heading north
southern fuel never has winter additive
if your fueling in Worthington MINN it is different
always assume every dropped trailer you pick up the last guy did not care
dump some additive in it
spend an hour outside trying to prime a reefer at 5 degrees
you will only do it oncePanhandle flash, dennisroc, jay-da-trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
when stopping at night after you park move the truck forward and back a few feet after 10-15 min
make sure your tires have cooled and dont sink into ice covered parking lots
and brakes have cooled and dont freeze to the drums
if your saying to yourself well road assist will figure it out
then you are a steering wheel holder
try to be better then averagejay-da-trucker, jungHo, gntorres61 and 3 others Thank this. -
Hey George, did you stop at the TA in Candler, NC today? I drove right past you at some point. I started in Maxton and an in Oak Grove, KY for the night.
Dispatch thinks I'm going to Bridgeton, MO but I'm staying right here. They pulled a crappy bait and switch and everything happened so quickly last night. I told them they best find a swap driver but I would at least get it moving west. I could deal with the delivery even though I hate everything to do with Saint Louis, but it's the principle that I'm protesting.HometimeQueen and dennisroc Thank this. -
modern diesel engines return 6-8 times the amount of fuel they burn
this lubricates the injection pump and the fuel is warm returning to the tank
if your a company driver it will be issued to you or they will tell you to buy some
every truck stop carries it
lease drivers should check out buying it by the case from Farm and Fleetgntorres61 Thanks this. -
I've been to a few orientations, could tell some tales loldennisroc and passport220 Thank this.

not sure what Cranky uses but I always use Howe's. Hasn't let me down yet. Every truck stop has it.

Sitting at the TA in Columbia, NJ. Ran across 80 in Ohio and Penn today. Hit some flurries in Penn but nothing sticking. Now overnight could be different. So far still in the 30's. Deliver in Harrison tomorrow and hope to get the crap out of the NE. Spent all last week up here then got back to Ohio/Michigan only to get sent back out here lol.
Forgot to add listening to my Dolphins knock the Bills around.
HometimeQueen, passport220 and dennisroc Thank this.
