Maybe some hay but nothing really comes out of there. I usually dead head out. Stay warm. Cold here outside Denver!
-
I think it's more like the fact the rates are so bad on hay coming out and there's not much else to haul it's more beneficial to come out empty rather than the time and fuel spent deadheading and hauling a heavy load of hay for a bad rate.
Rate should be at $7-$8k per load from Houston in summer, $10k in the winter which is a real gamble.
Otherwise it's not worth it IMO. Oil companies make far more profit than truckers do so why should we subsidize them and haul their pipe based on a rate where we would need to haul another crap load back out just to make the trip doable!? Especially this time of year.
No oil company ever said "we better give truckers diesel for very little profit and a lot of effort because of milk in Texas"!
Ruthless and rollin coal Thank this. -
Did you give up the CA location?
-
Yes sir, we did. Moved to Texas three months ago. We should be finished with current construction contracts in CA by next summer. Loving the difference in costs amongst other things down here.
-
Good luck in the new location
Foxcover Thanks this. -

Where to in TX. I'm from so cal and have been on HOU 3 yrs
-
We are in Weatherford, opened an office in Dallas but have the yard and live in Weatherford.
Schools are really good here which was another big reason for the relocation. Little fella just started preschool and the next in line won't be far behind him. Unless I had a spare $30k per year per student for private school my kids could go to a Bay Area public school and learn how to walk around with their pants around their knees and talking slang! That part of Kalifornia isn't where I'd like to raise my kids.
How do you like Houston?
Skate-Board and 281ric Thank this. -
Resurrecting an old thread.
Any of you pipe haulers care to share who you are hauling pipe for? I'm in Montana, and sick of brokers.
Thanks!
