Good morning! Hope everything is safe out there!
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
Forget all my excitement over having a good mileage load going east with a good mileage backhaul going west.
After sitting around unpaid pulling this load out of the meat house, then sitting around unpaid while this trailer underwent repairs in Olathe, I now have T-call/swap orders that will give me 560 miles and two days to do them. Some other driver will get to run the prime miles that I paid the cost to set-up. -
This is definitely the state of Misery today. Cold and dreary. Went to sleep at about 3am, woke up about an hour later and remembered that I had not insulated one of the outside faucets and had left a hose hooked up to it. Sure enough it was frozen up and I couldn't get the hose loose. I was quite fashionable in my purple zebra striped fuzzy pajamas and boots with a hair dryer outside in the wee hours thawing out a faucet.....it's a good thing that I had my tiara to keep my head warm.
Don't worry ....my neighbors are used to me.dennisroc, Panhandle flash and jungHo Thank this. -
Aww shoot, passport ....that sucks! Are you still in Olathe? Is Conrad there? I know it's Saturday ....passport220 Thanks this.
-
No, I started moving out of Olathe after they finished the repairs to the trailer. Thanks for the idea but I don't think I can take this up to the next level with Conrad. If the deal was a bit more raw, I would kick. It does suck but I did get some miles, I will get another load, I guess this is what I signed up for as a company driver. Just reporting so others can know what to expect.HometimeQueen Thanks this.

That stinks outloud, passport! I just don't get it, how the DMs don't seem to care when you guys sit hours on end, getting no pay (maybe a meager $50 shutdown pay) and don't seem to care!!!
Sure seems to me they'd keep drivers longer if they kept you productive, as in moving! Course, there's also the lousy insurance. ...it's barely better than no insurance!
Like, George has been rolling since Thursday morning, except for his 10 hour/ 1/2 breaks, of course, but his load isn't due at Omaha until Monday. He will be at a truck stop nearby within a couple of hours, unless the snowfall becomes like a blizzard with poor visibility. He will be sitting for more than 24 hours waiting, unless they manage to send him a swap! Like, seriously, money isn't everything, but there are bills to be paid!!!
Executives with trucking companies really need to evaluate the amount of waiting time. I know there are times freight is not being moved rapidly enough. More efficiency in drivers' time just might improve that, ya think?! Sure seems like your theory, HTQ, that disparchers are largely inexperienced and not well trained, rings true. I could sure ramble on with "MY" soapbox
but I don't want to raise my blood pressure!
Hometime, my heart goes out to you! That had to be most uncomfortable, as in you freezing, thawing out your faucet/waterline. Guess that was a necessary ill but also quite a rude awakening. Oh, the things grass widows have to endure while the king or master is away!HometimeQueen, passport220 and dennisroc Thank this. -
We probably did pass each other honey badger.
In Valdosta for the night. What started out a promising day now stinks. I lost my sunglasses(prescription very expensive) and broke my comp while searching the truck for them. Going to bed very very frustrated. So mad right nowpassport220, Panhandle flash, jungHo and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for the support on my situation. I am okay, just disappointed. I understand you completely about the insurance!
I like the Sapp Bros in Council Bluffs, just across the river from Omaha. Exit 3. Has good, free WiFi, from both the Sapp Bros and the nearby Super 8. Good prices on cheap hand tools, enough parking and can use a shower credit at the Pilot just across the street. Oh, and it has a Burger King!HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
i like Sapp Bros Council Bluffs too
at Trans Am it is the trip planners that determine everything
the dispatchers are just baby sitters
I might have mentioned this before Trans Am is only good enough to get experience and move on
I have to fight to find the time to get unloaded and pick up the next load
the trouble is there are some companies even worsePanhandle flash, jungHo and HometimeQueen Thank this.
