Just keep and eye on a couple of cases being heard right now.
I'm not here to look down on anyone making a living,I make my money every week.Basically the same money I made 25 years ago when you could fill up your gas tank and buy a weeks worth of groceries for $150.Trucking hasn't kept up with the COL.You don't here from many people my age because most have just walked away and sail THWI.I have 2 sons who gave trucking a try because they saw what it afforded them when they were growing up.It didn't take them long to realize what I been trying to tell you.Son #3 recently graduated trucking school(against his mother and I wishes) and was quickly scooped up by a farmer after graduation who is paying him $800/week without any kind of settlement and he will surely be getting a 1099 come February. Our country along with its infrastructure is in desperate need of repairs and trucking has gone out of its way to avoid paying its fair share in the upkeep of just that.

it just keeps getting better and better. you seem to think things are in bad shape, when many of us are following a business plan that works are happy.

by your own statement you didn't have the stomach to take take on possible repair bills, some of us do. just because you are miserable doesn't mean we are.

you also have who can and cannot get on paid on 1099 confused, your son would be one who is not, I am one who is. I own the truck and trailer, both titles are in file cabinet at home.

I hope you get over being mad at the world

Every year for the last 15 years I have heard that this industry is doing nothing but going further downhill, and that drivers/owners and companies alike are just working for less and less every year. Funny thing is, every year that I stay in this business I seem to do better than I did the year before. There's a reason for that, I watch what is going on and change/adapt my business to flow with the tide. Sometimes I don't like it, I'm not a person that handles change all that well, but I cannot handle being miserable or failing even more.

There will always be those that have nothing good to say about the business that they are in, but what I always find ironic is they are still involved in a business that is so horrible. I wonder why that is? And arguing with someone that has that particular crappy outlook might be somewhat amusing, its not any different than having a conversation with a brick wall.

Funny all my children are involved with trucking in 1 form and another , oldest son has a small 10 truck fleet that's doing well , 1 daughter is our office manager another is in HR for a major carrier , 1 son in law drives for us , my 30+ employees all make decent $ and seem :) in their decisions to be in trucking

Just checking in here, since I was one of those newbs getting my authority last year at this time. I'm still in business and doing okay. Started out doing power only, now I have two trailers and I'm about to upgrade my tractor. I've learned a lot and I keep learning every day. My business partner is happy with what I'm doing, and I don't see us going away any time soon. :biggrin_25525:

I thought it was stagnant and an awful, how can it be good??

this thread was originally about new guys and whether they made, we have all surmised you tried it and didn't make it, now are convinced everyone should be miserable. anyone who disagrees is a cheerleader.

do a bit of research and get back to us
