I served my 2 year sentence with OTR.
That was enough for me.
Just not interested in living on the road all the time.
Pulling milk tankers for the last 2 months.
I think the union thing varies from terminal to terminal.
Don't really know.
I have never worked for a union.
Anybody driving milk tankers for RUAN out of Ripon, CA?

Jet460, would you mind me asking if you went through one of those trucking employment services, like indeed.com or jobs.monster.com or jobsintrucks.com? A lot of them advertise local jobs and indicate it can become permanent with that specific employer. I was just curious how you went from W/S OTR to milk tankers. He has been really interested in trying one of those agencies, but doesn't want to be stuck without a job. Thanks again for all the information you have provided us. He is only a little over a year into this, so doesn't know much of the structure of it all.

No agency.
I just look around. Ask around. Craigslist. Google. Pound on doors. Ask questions.
Be persistent.
Be honest.
Eventually you will find a job that works for you.patswife Thanks this. -
Ads that look too good to be true, always are.

I think we've already learned that in this business, jet460, but it's hard not to get caught up in all the promises!!

I don't know swifflekat, I don'y believe they'be discussed that with my husband yet. The job he is applying for is paid differently than straight miles because it's a local job. Good luck!

Whoo Hoo, Jet 460, that's great news. Keep us posted on how it goes, we'd sure appreciate it. My husband got into town on Saturday morning and the Ruan rep had been bugging him to get home as soon as possible, but he couldn't get home any sooner. So when my husband called him, he said all the positions were filled but would he come by for an interview on Monday in case some of the drivers didn't work out. So my husband went by and after being sent out to get his health exam done, his drug test done and just waiting for his drug test results. He had his interview and felt that went well, and know feels he would feel pretty comfortable going to this company. They seem to be real honest in their presentations on how many hours you're going to work, how much you're going to make and what they expect of you. He is hoping to hear by Wednesday when his drug tests come in. I'll let you know, maybe you two will be working for the same team! Keep us posted & we'll keep you in the loop as well. I think my husband is kind of excited about it now that it has talked to them about it, so I hope it comes through for him. Take care Jet460, hope to hear from you soon telling us how much you like it!
jet460 Thanks this.
