I had fuel stolen while I was sleeping a few years ago, that pissed me off..

Had a fuel cap stolen while parked in the Landstar yard in Laredo which is a fenced in facility w/security....wasn't happy about that either

Thats all that I know of in going on 21 years of long haul..

guess I've been lucky, but I also avoid mega truck stops and use the mom/pop type places.

Had two mudflaps stolen out from under us at the Petro in El Paso while we slept.

Had a lot lizard proposition my hubby in Memphis. He called me up front and I gave her a piece of my mind. Next morning our hubcaps were missing. Joke was on her, though, we were gonna replace 'em anyway.

Needless to say we retired our first truck dog and got a pit rescue. Think car alarm with teeth. Not a month later guy jimmies the door while I was sleeping. He hopped out real fast when I said "Better run, son, or I'm letting him go."

I always make a mental list of what's in every ones truck. I want the girl with the big muscles. Never had much trouble on the road. Thought one guy was going to rob me so I would'nt turn my back on him at the fuel pump. One guy in W Siloam Springs kept saying let me get up in your truck with you. I finally got my 45 out and told him the cops were on the way. A Big Black guy in Savannah Ga got on my running board at 0300 and was yelling for me to loan him $30 so he could take his kid to the hospital. I told him to call 911. He was a big guy and I thought I'd have to shoot him as my windows were down 2 inches.

Several others have also said they let the thief go. I realize you are being humane, but it just doesn't compute with me.

In my mind, hospitalization is the price of getting caught stealing. And if anyone tried to enter my truck I'd have no qualms about swinging a hammer at them. Giving them a pass just wouldn't be something I'd be thinking.

Two things went thru my head:
    1. Not sure if letting the dog go was assault in TX.
    2. Didn't want my lil buddy to get hurt. He cared enough for me to protect his mama, I try to look out for him, too. Thieves aren't the only ones that will shoot a dog. Law enforcement will, too.
