Do American companies recruit truck drivers overseas

Hell yeah they do.

Con-way is full of Africans Haitians & Puerto Ricans.

They hired specifically for teams.

(Peurto Ricans English is non existant. A lot of head shaking & yes going on)

 

Not sure if they recruit but those drivers will have to go through what we did to get authorized/CDL to drive here in the States. It's not bringing em here and start trucking asap.

 

There's plenty of white toothless wonders who can't speak english driving trucks too though.

 

20 years ago there was a small program to bring black south africans to the us, train them as truckers, and send them back to south africa. Tsmt was one company that was training some of them after they finished the local community college truck driving school. The results weren't good.
Most had never even been at the controls of a goat cart before this.

Yes there is. They would rather hire an immigrant than a US citizen. If they get 10 applications from immigrants and 10 from US citizens they will hire the immigrants first. And they don't even have to have a perfect 10 year employment history like US citizens do.

 

Last time I checked Puerto Rico was a US Territory, not a "foreign" country. They have the same laws as us and are citizens of the US.

Don't assume you will get the correct answer here. To be on the safe side you need to consult an immigration lawyer who handles this kind of situation.
To my knowledge, I know of no US trucking co will hire you on a temp basis unless you have the necessary legal clearance to do so. Any company is going to ask you if you have the legal right to work in the USA. There are stiff fines if a company knowingly hires someone who is an Illegal Alien. To get paid, you will need a Social Security# and they are not easy to get.
