I think no they give you an option. If you fly and choose to leave within 90 days you have to pay for the flight.

This is so true. I can tell you that the commission for a third party recruiter absolutely floored me. Some of these carriers are willing to pay $4500 to a recruiter. I have really had to think about that over the last few days. ...and the more I thought about it the madder I got. Why not put that kind of money towards a driver's pay? ....You know, the one that actually does all of the work and sacrifices time with his family! Why not pay that money toward benefits ...holidays or good health insurance? Then maybe you wouldn't need to pay recruiters....drivers would be knocking on your door.

I've been looking over the contract for this recruiting job ...it's fine....but when I started looking at the carriers I would be recruiting for and what they were willing to pay to fill seats, it kind of made me sick. We should all quit and become recruiters ....other than we would have to suck other people into working for some of these people. It's not that all of the companies were bad, there were actually a couple of good ones .....and the commission for finding them drivers was only $1000.

I asked if I could choose the carriers that I recruited for, and I want it in writing. I was told sure .....but they have yet to put it in writing.:biggrin_25513:

I think many are confused by that truckertravis. Normally in the real world when you lease with an option to purchase, like a piece of real estate, a portion of your payments would be applied toward the agreed upon purchase price at the end of a specified time. I haven't read over TransAm's contract yet but if I understand what everyone has said over the years there is no such understanding within the lease. Your payments are strictly the rent that you owe to lease their equipment. If you complete your lease, you are given a purchase price for your truck, and a bonus cpm based on the number of miles that you have driven .....the theory being that the bonus paid will cover most of the purchase price of the truck. A 6 month lease does not qualify ....you are simply renting equipment and paying for maintenance.

Is that right everyone? jaso? Pete? honeybadger?

honeybadger is almost two years into her lease to purchase her truck. Her situation is unique ....... she is one among thousands of drivers and it in no way has been easy for her. She will be the first to tell you that.

Redneck can anky is right. It will take much longer by bus. Lots of stops, layovers, switching buses. You would have to pick up ticket from station you are leaving from. Maybe you can print up from the internet but I don't know for sure

At end of lease pay full market value. 6 month, 1 year and full term lease available. At end of lease a bonus of 3 cents per odometer miles paid. You pay a penalty for every mile you go over 2,500 miles in a week, I forget how much. The devil is in the details.

truckertravis, ask your friend if they guaranteed him 3000 miles per week in writing if he signs a lease? They don't and they won't.

As Pete pointed out, he needs to do the math. How many miles a week you have to do just to make your expenses varies based on the truck and length of the lease. I believe most of them have said between 1600 and 1900 miles a week just to cover weekly expenses.
