Well, I work with new carriers all the time. But I must agree with those above, at $2.35/mi, I wouldn't even dream of dealing with auth and ins. You've got it pretty good where you're at! I am considered a better-paying broker in that I never offer less than $2.00. If I can't get 2 to the driver or more, I don't accept the load in the first place. I don't believe in raping drivers, without drivers, I wouldn't make any money.
That being said, there's not a lot out there like me. Most brokers offer less than 2, and with good negotiating skills, you MIGHT get up over 2. I'd hang tight where I was for a while, until the market picks up (and these cheap drivers quit running the freight prices down). This hurts us, too, guys; customers aren't stupid. As prices go down, what we can bill goes down. Someone like me (with a sense of ethics and morality) can't get good prices for the drivers cause the customers aren't paying good prices to begin with.

I had one broker tell me that they don't give loads to companies that have been in biz less than 6 months. I heard a lot of people say "you will have trouble getting loads with a new mc" and thy couldn't have been farther from the truth.

There is no issue loading a new MC. Anyone telling you different needs to back away from the truckstop counter.
-
There is an issue if the company policy has a minimum carrier authority granted date that a new carrier can't meet.
