Any union job pretty much. They are harder to get though because of the pay. The laziest people you will ever meet are union workers.
-
Really? If you were closer, I would let go on a ride along and show you how lazy I am.
Mr Ed Thanks this. -
It's not that we are lazy. Its. You bid for your route and that's all you do. No need to bust your butt our make a name for your self. Because ware I work every driver makes the same per hr new driver our a 20 year vet. My Boss can't give you are cherry route our promotion everything is by seniority

I load a 48 foot trailer with liftgate buy hand with recyclables rain snow hotter then hell our cold as hell... ya lazy... got ya

So just because you can make a cash cow out of breaking down, while your own productivity as a worker/employee goes to zero, you feel this is right??
The American worker was once regarded as being skilled, multi-talented in all pertinent/important areas related to his work, and taking pride in his work, but now it's sad to think it's going the way of the dinosaur.
I drive on hourly pay, therefore my company does pay me hourly during any breakdown. Prior to this job I was on mileage pay, but they also paid hourly for breakdowns.
Regardless,, (and this is only my personal beliefs & way I operate),, if the day ever came when I have a breakdown, and with the common knowledge that breakdowns WILL occur, and I sat there fully knowing I came intentionally unprepared and unwilling... I would feel that my own value (to myself first, and to my company as second) would be put in a worthless category and I would be be selling out my own "Productive Valuable Man Card" for just some extra 'peanuts', better known as the Almighty dollar.
Money does mean a lot to me,, but in cases that would make me feel I'm sucking $$ off an (unjust) avoidable opportunity,, money does NOT mean as much as my personal pride in myself, and in my job. JMO -
In all do respect it don't bug me at all its not my job are within the scope of my contract. It's really just that simple.

Most of us lazy union truck drivers are guys who drive local which also means most of us slip seat. Because my "lazy #####" works outside in all types off weather, I have a huge duffel bag that I have to carry with me everyday just to carry the essentials I need on a daily basis. When you slip seat like I do and most other local drivers do, it would be kind of difficult to also lug around your Craftsman tool box from truck to truck on a daily basis. Now if the company wants to furnish all our trucks with a set of tools, I wouldn't have any problem turning a wrench now and then when need be. Also, when the multimillion dollar company I work for wants stop paying upper management huge bonuses and replace the 15 year old junk equipment I have to drive on a daily basis, then I won't feel bad about sitting and collecting pay for a break down.
-
We have our own truck no slip seat we only run one shift all our trucks are leased throw Ryder and replaced every 5 years... so. Anything with the truck Ryder don't won't us to even Chang a head light.
