I got that email last week. I start 1/12 in Denver. Good luck to you and maybe we'll meet on the road.

I did too, $.26/mile, 3,000/week. Did 13 months in pretty good equipment, one brand new Volvo 670, got out, making good money now as an I/C. Learned my basics, was safe and on time, (didn't yell at any customers, that helps) and moved on. Worked for me. Another thing, Swift hired me on when nobody else would take a chance on a 69 year old retread, gave me a truck and loads, I still appreciate the step up I got from them.

I learned early on that in addition to not yelling at anyone, smiling to the person behind the glass or counter helps, too. A lot. Even smiling while talking on the phone to your DM will convey a good feeling; it might even help you get a good load or two.

To the guys who said you were making .26 a mile and homeless in a truck your first year... are you saying you did that by choice and saved a lot of money? Or are you saying you were drowning and not getting paid enough?

For those of you new to Stevens, what is the newer pay scale? I just got an email blast from them titled "Huge Pay Increase!" ... but there were no details. Anyone know?

Seems to be the question of the day. Be nice if they put the rate in the email blast.

Not sure of the specifics, but essentially there was a $.02 a miles increase for new hires. As I understand it, the training pay is now $400 week flat rate, once you are solo, (6 weeks for most) you will Start at .28, at your 6 month mark that goes to .30, them at 9 .31 and after 1 year it is at .32 and then .01 a year after that.

That was how it was explained to me anyway.
