Currently in DE. Just dropped my trailer, put myself oos, and bobtailing back towards central Jersey. I've called 2 shops and both told me to call back tomorrow but are booked solid through Thanksgiving.. There's a Kw dealer by my house, but that would be outrageously expensive..

That will be the best way if you can shop around and find the shop that wont put a rebuilt clutch an press. plate in with/out turning flywheel and then charge you for new parts!

If you purchase an Eaton replacement,it will be new. They don't produce a rebuilt for ultra shift yet.Be prepared for the cost though. It is close to $1000 just for clutch.Labor should not be any different than normal, unless they charge for being a larger/heavier than normal clutch assembly.Good luck.

It feels like a whole new truck. It even fixed problems i didn't know i had. and given me an increase in mpg as well. the old clutch was so bad that the pucks were worn down to the rivets and every spring pocket was cracked.. it was one load away from exploding

    baha Thanks this.

I have a 2012 International Prostar with the Ultrashift that is skipping gears and getting hung in a gear. When it gets hung in gear, the driver has to pull over and shut the truck down, then start over and it will usually shift. It has to be done a few times per day. I was told at the local shop that the clutch was worn out and it needs to be changed, but the Inertia Clutch was okay. I priced a new clutch and it was $2,000 just for the Clutch! Does this sound Right? I saw your $2,900 bill and it sounds like the Clutch was 2 grand.

Hello folks. I hope I'm doing this right..here goes. I'm having this same issue with one of our company trucks (04 Int 8600), and I wonder if anyone thnks a new clutch might solve the problem if it's a manual gear box? New tranny last year, new turbo 3 years ago. I'm admittedly hard on it due to the nature of what I have to do (set septic tanks), but I've asked the mechanic if it's my driving but he says he doesn't think so. My symptoms are the same, except I can add that a couple times while accelerating, my truck went beyond "slipping" and the bootom fell straight out. Turbo chirped a couple times as it pegged and struggled to climb back up RPM's. Scared the hell out of me. Just got it back from mechanics, they said they couldn't find the problem, but it is NOTICABLY better. As it seems each time it comes back from service, but day by day it will get worse until the next service or I complain enough to get a special visit to them. This has been going on for years, and although we trust our mechanic shop, they haven't been able to solve the issue. Would appreciate any information. Thank you.

    I bought a 2014 freightliner Cascadia in 2017
It had 623k on it. I had it deleted because the DPF system was shot and needed to be replaced. Not long after that the clutch went out. Installed new 1850 clutch assembly ($4500) 6 months later the new clutch started slipping. They said it had a recall on it. So they replaced it. Then 6 months later it started slipping again. Eaton said they would not replace it again I must have the power turned up they said. So I Had a 2050 clutch installed it lasted about another year. Then the motor blew at 850k. I had the dealer in Laurel, MS do an In-Frame with a new head and turbo. $32k. But then 75,000 miles later it sucked a sleeve and blew that motor. My mechanic said yeah there is NOT a tool available to cut the blocks to line up the sleeves. (They usually last 75k-80k before this happens). This can only be done by Detroit.
He got me a Detroit reman long block from our local dealership for $25k with some other new parts and gasket and installed with yet another new clutch (because the said it was worn out and wouldn’t work when they tried programming everThing) total installed $45k. But it never would run right. So we put in a new ECM with new deleted programs. Still no power. Took it to the delete guy. He dug into the ECM to find it was set at 455hp/1600 torche (by dealership) He sold me a program to make it 565/1930. Which is probably what the original deleted program was.
Wow !!! Was my first response. We are back in business…. But no I had a injector that was sticking when it gets hot. (Probably the #4 cylinder that sucked a sleeve damaging both the turbo and injector) But it was not throughing any codes. I replaced all the injectors and the turbo. $5500 more.
I should also point out that this truck had always ran rough late in the day. But ran great when it was cold in the early part of each day. This problem turned out to be cracks in the fuel tank pick up tubes sucking air into the fuel system. (I replaced the tanks). Well now everything is new and there is nothing left to replace. It runs at what I would say is 98% I’ve done all I could to rebuild this truck all said and done I’ve invested over $150k in trying to make this POS run great. I’ve now learned at the end of this journey that deleting it was the biggest mistake and it will never run at 100% because it is not made to run the way it is programmed. (Too much power and not enough fuel at high RPM’s)
Clutch just started slipping again with just over 100k on it. It goes in next week for a new 2250 clutch. (My 5th clutch) I’ll let you know next year if it’s any better.

There are a lot of hacks out there writing delete programs. Buyer beware.
