I was kinda thinking that is the Answer I didn't want to hear I'm sure there are many undocumented drivers here in the USA I guess marriage is my only way of working here on a temporary basis until I could gain citizenship in my opinion the usa is the greatest country in the world ,

Kbr and Fluor hire Americans to drive truck overseas. I haven't seen where they hire foreigners to drive here in the U.S.stacks Thanks this.

All countries, and not just the USA are cracking down on illegal immigration. You can't just come over here and think you're gonna get a job. Doesn't work like that. That applies to Canada too.
You either have to have oodles of $$$ and start a business here and employ people or you go the marriage route. Those are the best and most direct way to be be able to work and live permenantly in this country. The other alternative is that you have a very unique skill that is in demand in the USA. Truck driving is not one of them. The whole concept revolves around the fact that you as a foreigner are not going to take a job away from a Native American. Which makes perfect sense.
It took me awhile to get legal. It used to be very easy, but the change happened when Reagan was in office. Of course now you've got Obama who wants to legalize about 4 million undocumented and illegal workers over here. As usual politicians will move the goalposts to suit their agendas and whims.
Is it fair? Not really, but that's the way it is with those guys in DC.stacks Thanks this. -
You might want to think twice if you want to get temporary green card or US citizenship so you can work in the USA. Remember that FATCA law they passed not too long ago? The USA taxes based on citizenship, not residency ... there are some Canadians who have had dual citizenship their entire lives, never lived in the USA, and since this law has passed they are not under fire for not filing taxes their whole lives even though they have never lived there. Also, tax shelters that are legal in Canada (RRSP, TFSA, for example) are looked at by the IRS and they can demand you pay tax on the money earned inside those accounts, even though its in a tax shelter in Canada. Sound like fun still? The whole point of this law is to catch people who setup businesses in other countries in order to avoid paying high taxes to the IRS ... but there are many people caught in the cross hairs, so to speak.

Good that you bring up that piece of BS legislation. FATCA It was supposed to close the loophole for people that were evading taxes with companies being registered overseas but has snared most Americans and green card holders.
Im already doing my research on this thing as I've got real estate and foreign currency interests overseas. At the moment I don't have to worry about it until certain events take place, but it's a concern.
Thats why many American folks are renouncing their citizenship and if push comes to shove I will do the same with my GC if I find the IRS wants part of the monies which they have no right over.
They probably won't because certain money is exempt, but what worries me is that others in my native country may misinterpret the law and withhold monies that are due.
its an outrage really and it all boils down to currency controls that Obama has put into place because the U.S. Govt is basically bankrupt. They're just trying to grab as much money as they can so they can continue with their out of control spending. -
That is simply not true. US citizens don't have to have a perfect 10-year to get hired to drive. That's a myth.Brandson Thanks this.

I understood that to apply to citizens. Does having a green card make you a citizen?
And maybe they've added to the rules but I'm pretty sure that thing about paying taxes regardless of actual residency has been around longer than Obama.
