Doubt you'll get much for takers with those rates.
-
What are you pulling? Flat, reefer, dry box what?
-
so generallee what kind of rates are you getting?
-
88%........
-
do you pull flatbed, van or reefer? 88% is pretty good
-
Van. I was @ 80% with cargo/liability paid by carrier and I paid into an $85 a week maintenance fund for a new trailer. The extra 8% is too much for this and the reason I'm leaving. I believe a carrier shouldn't take more than 10%-12% the cost of ins. and trailer lease. 15% at the very most. If they pay that up front then it should be a deduction from the settlements rather than covering it by such a high %. The O/Os that do well are footing the bill for those that don't this way. Just my opinion.

we pull dry van. 88% is too much especially since i am covering all expenses insurance which runs around $9000-$11,000 per year and also your pulling one of my trailers that i have to maintain I am in this business to make money our drivers stay moving never sit and most of our loads pay around $2.00 a mile and have never pulled for less then $1.50 a mile and even then its made up on the next load at like $3.00 a mile it isnt the percentages that get you paid its the rates we haul for.

Like I said, I'd rather pay my own expenses. An extra 18% for a trailer and cargo/liability insurance is way too much. Take $20,000 a month gross as a minimum, that 18% is $3600.
Well over $40,000 in a year. You're making a nice profit in the trailer leasing business given the lease and insurance on a brand new 53' plate is $700. Maybe $750. Cargo/liability insurance $500-$600 a month. Worst case it costs you $1500 a month for what you take an extra $3600 a month for. This would be on top of the 12% I feel is the most a carrier should be taking above expenses. Maybe 15% if they're really good at what they do. You would be making WAY more $$$ off MY truck than I would. -
easy to say what you I will be making however as a carrier the risk is more ours certain aspects unless your a carrier no way for you to understand all the extra hidden charges we are charged for. we get hit very hard your insurance estimates are off as well im currently paying $600 a month but that is also with a $4000 deposit. and many other smaller charges but add up quick. however I can tell you that your truck will never sit with us. doesn't matter if a company pays you 95% if your sitting 50% of the time then still you haven't made any money. this isn't a trailer leasing business it is a carrier we provide the loads all good paying loads we do all the invoicing and back end paperwork. we pay all the expenses lumper, plates, ins. you pay fuel and maint and that's it we also don't have e log we run paper. no qualcomm rentals ect. we pay out bonuses for clean inspections. and give back to our drivers whenever we can we are small company may not be able to offer some of the perks some of these larger companies offer but we do offer one thing that the do not. we are good to our drivers this company was started by a driver and understands the road. and we keep our drivers happy.
