I am currently doing an inframe on a 3406E 2WS and looking for around 850HP. I have a 1000 HP marine cam that is going in it, and looking at a set of 59's. I am wondering what piston packs would be the best for my combo. I have a CAT heavy haul part number but just making sure it was the best choice.
thanks

I used a gold kit on mine with a set of 59's last year when I rebuilt and have no issues so far. I did have to put new numbers below factory settings in to save the driveline with them and I'd bet it's close to putting that out now. Almost wish I kept my numbers in ECM and kept the 58s. You can get that horse without the 59s. I'm not trying to talk you out of it but if you was with me on that first trip you would understand. Sounded like a monster under the hood and was topping good grades at 70mph and half throttle. It felt like I had 2 engines and didn't dare set the cruise.
Vampire Thanks this. -
Im still on the fence with the 59's. some people say 58's are plenty. Ill be the only one driving it and been building it for years and found the head cracked so I fiqured I might as well go all out on it.

59s are a waste of time and are known to burn pistons, with the quality of reman cat parts it would be a long shot if it lives a long life or not.

Keep the fuel cut back with the programming and make sure the trim codes are what the injectors call for and you should be good to go.

Or just do 58s. Lol.
Like smokin cat has already said, Everything I've ever heard about 59s is that there overkill. -
What are you going to use for a turbo...? -
I think the one fella is already running them, that's the only reason I posted that, but 58s are more ideal all around.
