I am contemplating getting my CDL. The administrator of the school I'm looking at all but guaranteed me that there are companies that will hire new graduates that have daily home time. This sounds great but I'm wondering if she's blowing smoke you know where. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe? Depends on where you're at. It's not likely where I live but apparently it's not unheard of in bigger locales.

It's easy to get a local job fresh out of school but having the skill to deal with city driving, tight space, city ordinance, truck restrictions is another thing that's why most of them end up with something they are not gonna like, my suggestions is to go otr tryna get the feeling of what driving a rig is like enjoy the open road nd then switch over to a local position nd i bet you the safety nd the company management will put more trust in you when you have otr experience, good luck.

Just because those companies hire new drivers and those companies have positions with daily home time doesn't mean they go together. In other words, most of the good paying local jobs require a year or two experience. There are some exceptions in certain areas but by and large you'll need experience first.

And they may not be driving a class A truck.

When I started school I had a class B license. I also told the school I had an eye problem and they told me no problem just get a medical waiver. Well that waiver says I can not cross state lines, I live in a small state, so I asked about getting a class A driving job instate. Come to find out they had no answer for me and having a hard time finding a class A job that does not cross state lines.

They did give me 3 places for class B jobs today 1 I think for an oil Co. so can use my tanker endorsement.
School could not help me with any of the local LTL trucking Co.'s here like they can for OTR Co.'s so I have to do that leg work on Monday.
So yes it can be a little smoke so do more checking like with who the jobs would be with. If they do give you names you can then check them out to see if 1 is better than the others for you to go with.
    Good luck

Put your location on your profile.

There's lots of Class-B jobs, such as propane or beverage companies that hire for local and hire new CDL graduates. There's Class-A jobs also, so get the Class-A and all the endorsements.

Ask her if they come to the school to recruit. That administrator isn't any different then every other school, they'll say anything to get your money. But there are many more things to consider when choosing a school other then what type of companies to drive for.So keep that in mind before you get ripped off.
