If he's paying you extremely high you better get it while you can cause you'll get thrown under the bus as soon as someone "more reasonable" shows up. Been there and done that, got the t-shirt - many times. But business is business so no big deal just how it goes.

I haul for them regularly and think they are one of the better ones - especially in the large broker category. I have a few small brokerages that are fantastic but I have no beef with CH at all. Bottom line is if the load doesn't work money wise or other I don't haul it.

Greetings, somebody I know booked a load for his driver, some 900 miles for $900. The driver was told to call the receiver/shipper for directions. She told him to go to another place to deliver which is some more miles to drive. Driver said: "Oh man, what else more do i have to do for this $900?". So she said what $900? Is that what they paid you? He said yes. Why? And she said: "I paid the broker $5000 for this load". Oh, and the broker even refused to pay another $100 to cover the extra miles. This is C.H.Robinson and Coyote and TQL and all of these thieves. They bring shame to this country. The biggest thieve becomes a manager and than teach the new agents how to steal. Very shameful that this is now the face of America. They will never know what it means to go on the road and leave your family behind to try to make a little extra buck. That's make me very sad because there is plenty of which we all can share from. I forgive them. God bless you all.

Why in the world would you haul a 900 mile load for $900????? Are you serious? These brokers will only pay you as much as you are willing to haul their freight. As long as you are willing to haul for $1/mile, then there is no reason to pay you more. If you are planning on staying in this business, you need to hone your negotiating skills or find a carrier and lease on to them. I know some owner operators who are leased to carriers and averaging $2/mile for all miles. You cannot survive hauling for those rates. It is better to deadhead or sit until you find a decent rate than to haul something where you are not making any money.

Great response, when the trucker knows not what they should bid the load for, then the broker will bid it for them.

We have worked with CH for five years with very few problems. They pay us very well for our services, they have cheap freight that is true. But you don't have to take those, and don't feel bad about asking for your price, you may be surprised that sometimes they will agree to your rate. If you don't ask you won't receive.

Oh wait, I think I have the answer.
Because there is a whole country full of 44 cent per mile truck drivers. So yea they can haul that freight and the company can still make a profit off of $1 per mile brokered freight.

It's funny, I can't ever recall a crappy load getting canceled. You know the load back from Co,Wy,N. Dakota. Whatever black hole you made the big bucks to get into. It's always that Good, good money load that something happens with.
