Ok my fellow truckers, my journey begins here. I am a newly licensed trucker. I graduated school in November and have no experience at all. I have chosen Freymiller and they accepted.I will keep this thread going so that new "wet behind the ears" graduates can use my experience. Please feel free to post on here if you have EXPERIENCE with Freymiller so that those who read will get knowledge from both a new guy and also knowledge from an experienced one. I'll start out by saying that, although I realize it's where the top money comes from, I did not want OTR. I have a young child at home and a young wife. The reasons I chose Freymiller were:
1.) 1 day off for every week you're out (In my case I'll be out 2 weeks and home 2 days most of the time)
2.) Outstanding equipment (Big Peterbilts with APU in all)
3.) They treat employees like family
4.) Most drivers I talk to LOVE the company
5.) Pet and Riders are allowed
6.) You take your rig home with you.

So my journey begins Monday morning when I'll fly out from California to Oklahoma for orientation. I will fly Southwest Airlines with a Denver layover and arrive in OKC around 5:30. Im supposed to be picked up by the hotels shuttle (Extended Stay America) and get a room. (I'm a smoker so they booked me a smoking room)
The next morning I'll get picked up at 7:30a to go do my physical and drug screen and then over to orientation.
I will post again on Monday and let you know how it goes.

Guys feel free to post the good and the bad here but please no "bashing" and no disrespect to fellow truckers for their opinions.

Did an 8 month stint with them back in the mid 80's , kept me running coast to coast and was decent $ at that time , equipment was mostly brand new ( KW T600's just came out ) and well maintained

So it's monday night and I'm in my hotel. I left California at 10am and flew to Denver for my connecting flight to Oklahoma. Hotel shuttle picked me up and brought to the Extended Stay America. The room is really nice with a TV, Microwave, Stove, Fridge, etc. Tomorrow morning I'll get picked up at 7:45 to go do my physical/drug screen and after that I head over to orientation. (Just as a side note, in your orientation agreement it states if you fail your drug screen YOU are responsible for getting yourself home, so don't take the chance lol) Anyways after I get back to the hotel I'll update.

Ok. So it's Friday and my orientation ended yesterday. Here is an update on everything:

Tuesday - Day started in the hotel lobby at 7:30a. We loaded up in the Hotel Shuttle and headed out to the clinic for our Physical/Drug Screen. When we got to the clinic everyone checked in and then they took our group into a waiting area in the back. One at a time they took us into an area and did a few strength tests etc. (Lift a heavy box from the shelf and squat to the floor, walk the box X amount of feet and back, climb the stairs, push & pull test, etc.) After that they took us one at a time to another area and had us fill the cups for the UA. Took a total of around an hour for all 7 of us to get done. After that we were picked up by Freymiller and taken to the terminal to begin. All day we were talked to about the different things involved with the company, the pay, etc. We signed our orientation forms and some other paperwork. Lunch is provided. They bring you a menu from dominos and you can pick whatever you want ( medium pizza, wings, sandwich, pasta) and a 20 oz drink. Our day ended at 4:30 and the shuttle picked us up and took us back to the hotel.

Wednesday - We had to be in the lobby at the hotel at 6:30am and rolled out at 6:40am. Starting this day the shuttle WILL leave you if you're late. First thing at 7:00am we met the Safety Director and he talked to us for an hour and a half about accidents etc. and showed a video. Next we met one of the DM (dispatcher) and he explained that side of things. They again passed out the Dominos menus and we ordered. We went and had a Reefer class with the Maintenance guy. Went through some more things including Qualcomm class and the day ended at 4:30pm.

Thursday - Day started at 6:30 again and headed to orientation at 6:40. We met Payroll and things were explained, then we met Benefits and spent 2 hours going over our AWESOME insurance(Medical, Vision, Dental), 401K, AD&D, etc. Then we filled out our paperwork and chose what we wanted. After that we ate Dominos again. After lunch a nurse came in and hooked us each up to a machine to take a baseline. They use this baseline in case you are ever injured they know where the problems are to get you back to. After that you get a $25 gift certificate to the company store and they take you over to the Admin building (if your UA results come back clean). Here you will meet your dispatcher, get you Commcast card, and meet everyone. They take you up to the store where you'll get a goodie bag (shirt, hat, lanyard, coffee cup, etc) and if you choose you can purchase whatever you want. They also allow you to purchase items and have it deducted from your weekly settlement until paid off. That's how I got this ###### Laptop, lol. It's a refurbished thinkpad with Windows 7 for $305 ( they'll deduct $100/week for 3 weeks). After you leave the Admin building the experienced drivers go to the shop and get their trucks, etc. Trainees like me wait for their trainers. My trainer won't be here until Monday so they put me up in the hotel until then. It's not bad though because if you need to go anywhere you can check out a company car. We got our orientation and trainees start earning their $450/week. Everyone here is very friendly and make you feel like family.

My next update will be after my first run. Hope this is helping people.
