Until I got with my girlfriend, I lived with my mom. I always gave her $500 a month. I was home every weekend tho, if your only home once a month then I rather just live out the truck and get hotel rooms on occasions.
Single guys, do you rent a home?

Back when I drove I used my parents address as my location so I could get my per diem. Whenever hometime was coming up I'd pick a state I wanted to take it in, and then informed dispatch a few weeks ahead of time. I was a tourist on my hometime.

It's cheaper to get a nice hotel room and rent a car when you have time off.

Some good advice already written, I personally would keep my home addy with parents and save money. Never know who you might meet out on the road, you might find some companionship from time to time to lay your hat down for a few days of r & r and other things !

I have a "multi-family' home. Meaning that a total of 3 families can live there, and do.
But I "rent it" to my family. So not only am I getting a tax write off, but building up equity as well. I have no worries while I am at my job. All the important phone numbers are available for every one if need be. All I need is the top level (or apartment), it is smaller then the other 2, but it's "home".
As a single person, you can save up your money, live with your dad, then when the times comes, and before the housing market blasts off again, buy your own home, while it'll still be cheap to do so. If you buy a duplex, you can have your renter pay almost all of your mortgage with thier rent payment alone, making you live pretty much for 'free'.double yellow Thanks this. -
Yup.I would think that the biggest issue with attempting this would be premature burnout. Even if I didn't have a GF...I'd still want somewhere to go home and decompress. No way would I want to get to where I would consider a truck home.

Rent u a storage unit. Throw a couch, BBQ grill, and a five gallon bucket in there. Run drop cord from tractor (if u have inverter) POW got power.

I have a small 2 room apartment in a multi family house that my parents own. I have nothing there I worry about. I have a bed and clothes there an old tv with rabbit ears a table and microwave and a bathroom. When I'm home I sleep there do laundry and if I eat anything its easy to cook and doesn't need a fridge. I pay 35 bucks a month for power and throw 400 bucks a month to dad to pay for upkeep and taxes on it.

Yeah, and I'd hate it for him to be sleeping in that storage unit, and Brandi and Jarrod bid on it, and take him home!
Although, it could be worse, and Dave Hester bid on him!browndawg, bergy, "semi" retired and 1 other person Thank this.
