Wow thanks!
We are so lucky to have such knowledgeable and experienced drivers share your expertise with us. We are finding out that the big companies are more willing to take on new drivers. This is a polar opposite direction of a career for me, but for my husband he spent 29 years driving fire engines and ladder trucks. We are not old but not new, we are finding that a lot of the recruiters are wanting us to jump in and not ask questions. I am surprised to see their reaction when we start asking questions (that thankfully we got from here), we hear stuff like I'm not sure I'm a recruiter but I'm sure you can work it out with your manager. How do you know who to trust or believe?

Don't trust. Verify. Preferably in writing.
Don't ask the companies. They lie like a rug.
Ask a few drivers that work for that company. Here is a great place to start. You can also offer a driver a cup of coffee at your local truck stop if he has some time. -
Absolutely! The drivers that work for a company will give you all the insight you need to know about the Employer. Look for Face Book pages, Twitter pages and etc. on a Company and see if they show their drivers or talk about them. You can get some good information this way.

That's a great idea I have a truck stop not too far from home. I hate to admit but we are not on Face Book, but this will be our opportunity to take the plunge. I will keep you posted (literally
what unfolds for us. Thanks again to all of you who have given us such great feedback.
