Just got my cdl and because I have a few issues on my background my options seem to be limited. I've gotten the go ahead from two companies that want me to start orientation on Monday; May trucking and Earl Henderson. I can't find much information on either so i'm just wanting to know if anybody has worked for either one of those companies and which one would be a better choice to start your trucking career with? Thanks a bunch
MAY Truckng or Earl Henderson??? Somebody, please help me decide!!!

Earl Henderson is pulling Prime trailers and freight, but you'd be working for Earl Henderson. There is a May forum on TTR.

I worked for Henderson in '06 and was very happy. But since then the old man died and his kid is running it, so who knows what's going on there now. They are in some kind of marriage with Prime currently. May is a well established company. It might depend on where you live.

The kid that wants to be in trucking had to buy out the two that don't.

If u like being "under the microscope" --- told what to do when to do it and how to do, with starvation miles given
then May is your choice. -
wow, how do you know about that? have you worked for may before? and if so, how long ago?

I work for Henderson. The Prime deal has it's pros and cons so far, but the whole thing is still fairly recent and there are some kinks to work out. Overall, I'm still happy here and like the company. We got a four cent pay raise with the deal, but so far miles have really dropped. I'm really hoping that gets worked out soon. The people at Henderson are great to work with though and you're not treated like a number.

I just left May after 6 months to take the winter off. They were really good for me. I got tons of miles as a 48 states driver. And, yes, if you are a new driver they will be trying to keep a close relationship with you to help you and make sure you don't mess up too badly. As an experienced driver I pretty much ignored that and my DM left me alone. Live load calls with your DM by phone are the only real difference than any other company in that respect.
May is a fine company with a good rep. Don't let one person's negative review make you think otherwise.
You should also get a retention bonus of $4000 if you finish your first year with May, and also a nice bump up in pay per mile after that first year too.Last edited: Dec 20, 2014

I would go the Henderson route, They are now in bed with Prime, this should give you more freight options. May is not bad but I suggest Henderson.
