How is it not at fault is what I don't get either. The Accident beau sent a paper in the mail saying i needed medical review for a non at fault accident and the reason for the accident "feel asleep". Doctor sent me to get a sleep test or what ever it called I came out with no problems. He signed the paper saying i'm fine to drive nothing wrong with. That was the end of the case.

But still even thought it was over a year ago, get a copy of the police report. You may not really, fully remember what you told the cop that night, and he WILL write it down. Again, if NO mention of falling asleep, driving your personal vehicle is listed as the cause of the accident, then just say at application time, swerved to avoid hitting a person in the road.
As of right now, what else can we say, or add, that hasn't already been said or added? I think that in the first few posts, you got your answers.
Best of luck to you. I truly do wish you well.
Now I'm backing out.slim shady and Trucker42BC Thank this. -
Thanks Guys. I will get a copy of the accident report monday.
G.Anthony Thanks this. -
Don't pay for your own training. Wait till the accident is 3 years old and apply to a train to hire outfit. Anything you find now will be so bad you will loose your interest in trucking anyway. Never tell anyone you fell asleep at the wheel.

O.P.- You still haven't told us where you're located or what school you're attending. Any accredited, decent school has a placement department/director. What do they say? Are they aware of your driving record? Most reputable schools pull your DMV abstract prior to admission. Are you self pay or on a loan program? If on a loan program I'm quite certain they did a background on you and would have seen the accident and understood the ramifications which would have likely disqualified you or at least delayed your admission. What say you?

I go to NTTS in liverpool New York and yeah there people that have way worst driving records there. It's crazy. And everytime a recruiter comes in and if I am interested in the company I till the recruiter about the accident. and say go ahead and apply you seem to be ok. and the 2 i applied for i got denied for,

Like i said before only thing on my driving record is the accident i feel asleep and the one ticket. it all happened that one night. And on my DMV report I got 0 points for the accident...

Have you talked to Jaime S. the Placement Director?
Your abstract was pulled before you enrolled and again before you tested for your permit. What did the recruiter say about your record?
NTTS has a very high placement rate, Jaime will get you a job if anyone can. Did you go to the recent Swift open house at their terminal? That may be your best opportunity, they have cleaned up their act (and reputation) regardless of what you might read here. You need experience anyway you can get it, if it's with Swift then so be it. In the meantime go talk to Jaime - and be upfront with him. Good luck.
BTW, what's your start date and which program are you in?Last edited: Dec 27, 2014

It sounds like you've made the same mistake that many have made. I'm talking about not checking your own record before you dished out tons of money. You may have taking those advertisements as 100% true and right out of school you'll have it made. It's not too late if you adjust your attitude a bit and hit the bricks hoping to find employment. I don't mean to be harsh but you've got a hard fight up ahead and it's time to start looking for a career. I'll bet all you've done is apply on-line and have gotten no response or turned down. Put yourself in their position and look how you would react if you were hiring. You've got a stack of applications and you need to find a driver. You keep comparing your driving record to others that have problems. That's the wrong way to look at it. Do you think that your application is going to beat out someone with a spotless record. There're some if not many that have clean records. You've got to understand that applying over the net you have nothing to offer except you've applied. You can be pretty sure your application will be at the bottom or in the round file.
Don't you think you might want to see about cleaning your record? Maybe you can or maybe you can not, but it's worth a shot. I would advise you at this point to follow the advice from G.Anthony and get out and visit some of the trucking companies. You should try three ways to apply. In person, over the phone, and on-line. It's ok if they tell you they only take applications over the net, you still have the opportunity to place your face to your application. Whatever you do don't add more information on any paperwork than they are asking. Do not give up the details for any slanderous information unless they ask specifically and then be careful. Do not lie or tap dance the information either, just be straight forward and direct. That may be another opportunity for them to remember you. So you want it to be good.
Don't worry about what others are doing. You need to be aggressive in your job hunt and concentrate on you and you alone. Don't let anyone direct you to any place you do not want to go. Don't believe for one minute that those recruiters know all there is to finding work. Even if the company says it only takes drivers with experience try there anyway. You'll be showing that person that you are motivated and doing your research. I've seen drivers hired right on the spot with no experience for a tanker company hauling gasoline so it can be done. You never know so only take the information from the people that make those kind of decisions. You need to know that in this type of industry the more you put into it the more you get out. Good Luck.G.Anthony, wore out, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this.
