$30/hour in Van...how many hours a day/week? How much overtime? T4 would be way short of $130k?

You could earn $40/hour working for Company X but only work 25% of the time. Do the math, crunch the numbers.

$30/hour going into a new job needing training and supervision for x months.....seems about right. Ask them when the next bump up comes. 6 months? After being signed off on various job competencies? What are the hurdles, and are they written in a contract?

If CWI says you'll make $100k in year 1, that's not a bad gig. Only you can decide if you're comfortable with the numbers and if you think the trade off is worth it.

For me, the same or less money for more happiness is an absolute no-brainer. Money only makes you happy in the short term. You soon see past it.

    * Is that $30/hour field rate, shop rate? Any salary as a base???

Very true... yea I was making 34 in van.. but on the bottom of the seniourity list so not many hours.. now I am making a lot of money but not so happy.. CWI pays a salary of 3000 and 30 an hour plus ot and such.. and after when you get signed of on operator I think he said salary almost 4 grand and 36 an hour I was told as helper will make 100 and 130 for operator. But the job is much more enjoyable and he said especially because I have a family I will like it more, a lot more time at home.. just wanted to make sure that is the truth because I know everyone boosts about there company was just trying to figure out if I would make 100 k first year.

The numbers feel right, if you figure out how many field days/average field days in a year (low average estimate, try not to overestimate how busy you'll be) it sounds like they are straight talking. If it feels right I'd do it based on what you've disclosed so far.

Plenty of nice rural areas 30+ minutes from Sylvan if you like country locations.

Head out to the Bakken Field in North Dakota. Williston is a good place to start. Also Tioga, Kenmare, Stanley etc.

You have two months experience and a four-year-old DUI? The short answer is "never."

Well, first off, you won't get across the border without having completed a CIC Criminal Rehabilitation. So, nothing else matters. Even if you do get across the border, no reputable company will hire you... assuming you have a valid visa or are otherwise legal to work in Canada.

Prairie Boy and crankit2152 Thank this.
