HI ,PETE THREE SEVEN NINE EX-----------did not mean any disrespect. only the future will tell. I enjoyed the road, but wouldnt put my son on it.--$5 fuel is going to going put a lot of squeeze on drivers and expecially o/operators.and is going to send some big waves down that asphalt river.Im glad you own your rig,you were wise to pay it off.that will give you a lot of room. I sent my to son to air& heat school.and 5 years later he is self employed and folks call him to ask him when he can be there to solve there problem. He bills himself out at $50 an hour and has to turn work away. a father can have a great influence on a childs life and should do his best for that childs future.his school cost me $22,000.it was a great investment and i never have to change the oil.---love to all.

well guys i am the one that wants too drive it was my idea, i wanna get my cdl, he is actually trying to talk me out of it but its something i want to do, so he is going to have me working for him thats all, i know the sh** that happens in the industry, but I honestly think it's going to change, within the next 10 yrs I expect it to really change, we could end all this stuff today if we wanted to, all we have to do is stop moving that means company drivers and indpendent, the companies cant fire everyone it would change the industry within 2 days if all drivers JUST STOPPED MOVING, and to the owner ops who say if we shut down we go bankrupt, well guess what with fuel prices u are gonig bankrupt anyway where would you rather go bankrupt and home with your family or out on the road the choicew is easy for me, but it wouldnt work unless company drivers did it too

Ah bubba no disrespect taken there. Just kind of seemed like you were angry about driving. I owned 2 and now own none. Still 50/50 on that decision. Good to hear your son is doing well. Could only hope the same for my future kids. -
I know plenty of folks that are office types that hate their jobs. -
no, it is not the best thing he could do for you, thats my point. many years ago ,ok. --today? --I love the road when I can do my way. ----glad your having good time, enjoy. -

Dude, if its what you want you WILL make it work. I got the same crap from everyone when I started trying to get in this industry. My dad wasn't in it, but about every uncle on both sides were. This is all I EVER wanted to do. Some days it blows and some days it sucks, but what job doesn't?
My brother, brother-in-law, and a lot of people I know worked for a large chemical plant for nearly 20 years. Big money, big benefits, and vacation time out the wazoo. Had all the security a job could offer, and guess what. They sut the plant down and now he makes less then half of what he was making and trying to figure out at 40 years old what he can get into to better himself.
I was always the crazy one trying be an owner-operator and do my own thing. And yes it's been a long and VERY hard road at times, but it has also been good to me. You have a heads up with your father doing it. At least he can teach as you go. Some of us didn't have that, make the most of it.
This is not the last time you will hear someone try to crush your dream, but if its what YOU really want, go after it. The hard work will payoff! -
