Going out with my trainer today, a bit nervous.

To the OP, here is my advice

YOU are the one in charge of that truck when you are behind the wheel, HE is NOT. YOU have a responsibility to follow the laws, be safe at all times, respect others and not get into trouble. If he tells you to do something that is illegal, you have the right to refuse to do it. If he tells you to do something that you don't understand, you have the right to ask why and other questions.

He is not a trainer, he is a mentor and being one he has the responsibility to make sure you follow the laws, be safe and to teach you how the company works, how life on the road is while gaining experience. Outside of that, you have a CDL, you are qualified to drive and make decisions to drive safe.

Watch out for those team showers....

 

Just hop right up in the drivers seat.Start making motor noises,and pretend your driving.
Make some tire squealin sounds,and do a lot of jerky shiftin,and yank around on the steerin
wheel,all while slowling drooling onto your shirt.Then ask him.."So this is a truck,huh?"

Then go lay down in the sleeper for nappy time.Tell him to keep it down you need your rest.
Then start unpacking your stuff,and move all his crap outta the way.

Don't worry I only train females when I train.... y all are safer and easier to work with. Never had 1 issue. Just relax try and get your sleep and ask plenty of questions the only stupid question is the one not asked. Good luck and remember there's not a load your going to haul that's worth dieing over you get tired pull over

 

This has been discussed before. You are most likely to be compatible with somebody of your race/nationality. Not always but usually. I teamed with a Mexican guy once and it was great.

Not sure if you answered this yet, but where did you go to school? Some companies which I'll leave nameless, will make a 6 month veteran a trainer, hopefully this isn't your case, like another posted, your a guest in his home, be respectful, and pay attention to what he tells you, don't be afraid to make mistakes, this is how many learn, good luck. P.s. Don't use a truck as a toilet! Hopefully your trainer won't ether, when you're home? Do you use your bedroom or a bathroom?
