If you get into college level research. An issue with osa testing for cmv drivers is that it is actually pretty easy to falsify or cheat a home sleep study.

For that reason many medical examiners and sleep doctors will not accept a negative (you do not have sleep apnea) study requiring the expensive in lab studies for a negative diagnosis.

This is a complicated subject and I do see a lot of really bad information posted on this forum.

 

To clarify for others. ..

There is a huge difference between a take home pulse oximitery test and a sleep study.

Some vendors use a pulse oximitery test as a screening tool to decide whether or not you have to do the full sleep study.

Medically it's a pretty shaky idea. Pulse oximitery is only one of several channels of data involved with making a sleep apnea diagnosis.

You need to get good information about this topic from a source not involved with selling or administering studies.

Just because you have a good overnight pulse oximitery study doesn’t mean you don't have sleep apnea needing treatment.

 

im gonna follow this thred because of the good info........but....a"DOT" nurse practitioner has no business to TRY and force you to do anything with your health they have NO medical history and you have the right to ONLY discus this with YOUR DR..... this is gonna hit federal court ASAP!
