Depending on the forecaster, NW Indiana is to be between -11 and -16 Thursday morning. I hope they are wrong. It will take a lot of lp gas to keep this house warm if that happens.

If you have a smart phone, get the Intellicast weather app, it's free and has 10 day forecasts. Owned by the Weather Channel, so that's whose forecast you get. Has a current location setting and can be programmed to quickly change to many other cities of your choice with a simple interface. It is not data intensive unless you want it to be. I have it on my phone and it never uses a 100M in a month and I use it multiple times a day. Uses any wifi you are connected to. Good stuff.

How much time are you going to be taking off? Are you wanting to be a lease/op or owner/op? Depending on how often and how long you will need to be home, and whether you will be leasing or purchasing your own truck, it may or may not be worth it for you. Yes, you can pick your freight. Yes, you can go home as often as you want for as long as you but. But if you are leasing a truck from SFI, on a 1 year lease expect a $1100/week payment that comes out every single week regardless of what you do. With zero experience in the industry I wouldn't recommend going out and purchasing your own truck with only a few months of experience. At least with the lease you're not stuck with it for too long.
I think a lot of people read these threads and see it as "oh boy I can work for 3 months as a company driver, starting out with zero experience in the industry, then lease a truck and live the dream!!".
And those are the guys that end up turning the trucks back in because they just don't have enough experience to make it work.
I'm not trying to knock you, but I do want to give you some realistic things to take into consideration.Grijon, Dinomite, knuckledragger and 6 others Thank this.
