I just started with Airgas. 40 hours a week, home every night, weekends off, 2 weeks paid vacation, 1 week paid sick leave and 7 payed holidays. I'm making more than I was when I was OTR. Airgas is nationwide so I'm sure there is one in your area, OP. Check them out!

I'm at a loss. How is it that a man living 4,000 miles away in China can find jobs that someone can't find in their own back yard?
TruckrWnnaB, Nick2001, cnsper and 1 other person Thank this. -
Because Americans, for the most part, are lazy! American truckers are even lazier! Not all but most are!Nick2001, Flybynight041, slim shady and 2 others Thank this.

I chew betel nut 24/7. It expands the mind and you can see the whole world.

Nick2001 I live in the Akron/Cleveland area. To answer your question check out YRC Freight in Richfield along with Holland down in Akron. Fedex has a terminal in Richfield as well on Brecksville Rd. New England Motor Freight is in Richfield and so is SAIA. Both of those are on Brecskville Rd as well. You could land a very good job at any of these places with no experience at this time. If you want to push the boundaries look at Marathon Petroleum in North Canton. Right now they are looking for a Crude Oil driver. Its a nice terminal just a short distance from the refinery.

Waste managment is also an option, tankers like others have sid, alot of compaines have day cabs, often thats pulling doubles though *at least in my neck of the woods*
If u have all your endorsments there are tons of local jobs, I'm always shocked at just how many people think you HAVE to go OTR when you start trucking -
It may vary by area, but in my neck of the woods...they won't hire without experience. I looked in TN too (I applied there as well). Same story (in my case at least)
Same here. The problem is that it's a LOT easier to just listen to a recruiter at a CDL school than it is to beat the bushes and go find a local job. That and you have to follow up on your applications. I got in with my LTL gig (I'm a recent CDL grad) because I followed up with the terminal manager. -
Listening to a recruiter, yikes!
HotH2o and Flybynight041 Thank this.
