Calling out the COLOSTOMY BAGS

Yeah, I know what the book says. But I'm talking the seal is so worn away that all is left is the inside part that goes into the gladhand. My rule book says I'm not going to be responsible for anyone else's neglect. And if that means replacing a seal a little earlier than most drivers, well then that a sort of peace of mind for me.

Sorry if I sounded gripy there, it's been a day.

In reality, I'd rather replace something "early" versus catch it when it's too late. I'll happily replace things I know that are early and have no complaint. It's when things have gone past that point to where it becomes neglect is when it gets me.

I know its just a 7 second fix, but if it's so easy and quick then why don't others do it too?

 

Hey no problem, I carry a bag of seals with me and if I don't like the way they look, I change them. I will pick up 8-10 of them at any OC. And for gods sake you better have them in Laredo!!! They are Mexican currency down there, worth more than pesos.

I have never seen this in action. Having sat on trailers overnight AND dropping and hooking a few days later to the same trailer from GY , after noting defect on dvir the report that came back was good condition.

then again it sure would be nice if those reports would state what the pending defects ARE.

 

Obetz has two drivers rest rooms. one has a urinal the other does not. both are unisex rest rooms. I was in the non urinal one that day.

 

I agree with you there. I've picked up trailers before and doubly scoured over them when I see that only to find nothing. At least a clue where to look would be nice.
