why is that? Buy in Bulk?
-
Had some loads going from Houston to Beaver,UT, 4000lbs, paying $5/mile. Some of the guys did the cheap freight route, bounced 50 miles to grab a 30000lb load paying $.88/mile going to Mobile,AL,then book cheap loads from Mobile to Houston, then back to Beaver. The other guys would bounce back from Beaver to Houston to grab another load to Beaver.
Which is more profitable? -

deadhing back to houston is more profitable but you still can go the cheap freight route and make more money, grab a cheap load that picks up and drops off on the way back to houston, the possibilties are endless and you're not investing a lot of time or going too much out of the way.for example a load from albuquerque NM to houston Tx paying $0.88 a mile is gonna put an extra $779 in my pocket.

why would you allow anyone to pimp you like that?
88cpm is an insult -
I totaly agree with you,i was just using triplesix rate.
-
BUT if you have 2 options, one being 88CPM or sitting at a truck stop making no money what do you do?comallard Thanks this. -
my money-load typically pays enough, that if coming out of a bad area is paying 88cpm, ii will deadhead
thats where i draw the line, i am not going to pull anyone's garbage because they feel all i need is gas money
my deadhead costs less than 40cpm, i can make that up on the next loadAl. Roper, Road Boss, double yellow and 3 others Thank this. -
Hahaha from reading all the replies on this thread I think even non-truckers understand "cheap freight vs dead head." Thanks to the truckers that had the patience to give great info on this thread.
