Same with Idaho ( I have to lease to work for Prime ) and MT, ND, SD... from what I understand... I see Prime trucks on the road here all the time... pull into any T/S around Boise and you will at lease see 2 to 3 Prime trucks at any given time........ must not have many drops/pick-ups in Bosie though.... anyone know of any in/out bound loads around Boise?

Then theoretically, there should not have been a problem w/ me coming on as a Company driver vs. being made to take a lease.... Seems to me there shouldnt be an issue w/ getting me hometime w/ a drop or pick-up in Boise then....

 

Not necessarily. You have to think about contract fluctuation. Just because they have freight going in and out now doesn't mean they have enough to sustain a new hire. Those are things the company will look at when changing hiring areas.

 

Actually what you're seeing here is incorrect. I talked to management a couple of weeks ago about this. Yes, we do have a lot of trucks passing through Boise, but that doesn't help with home time for company drivers.

The issue is that Prime doesn't have shippers and receivers close enough to Boise to allow one to economically deliver a load, bobtail to home and back, and pick up another load. You're located in a dry area as far as freight is concerned. That's what they told me.

Suggestion: Move to Burley or Idaho Falls,
and commute in a four wheeler.

 

commute to Boise? Or leave the truck in Burley/Idaho Falls and commute to Boise from there? I take it that there are drop spots around there?

 

Yeah, something like that. Thinking about it, I'm not sure we do drop 'n hooks from Burley or IF. But the point remains the same... you could always talk to recruiting and find out how far you'd have to move in order to get into the company side for hometime. Something might be arranged with a company-side FM to get you closer to Boise later on... no promises.

 

In Burley at the McCain Plant we used to do drop and hooks, Don't know about now though. Sure beat waiting to get loaded.

Yep... Florida is more a case of how close to Bradenton one is. South Florida is the difficult sell. And it always changes...
