For Vac truck try Nabors in Big Lake and Key Energy in Odessa.

They're currently looking for drivers, willing to train CDL grads, and will actually get back to you if you fill out an application.

Also Select Energy Services. Here's their craigslist ad.

No excuse not to have a job if you follow all the advice in this thread.

    Hey Acehigh72,

I'm thinking about relocating to San Angelo and maybe try to get hired by Plains. I see they are hiring out of Big Lake, but you have mentioned Mertzon. Do they hire out of Mertzon? What's the drive like from San Angelo to Big Lake? Also, do they work nights or days? Do benefits start the first day? They sound like an amazing company. Thanks for any help.

Mertzon yard is part of Biglake district. .. all the mertzon drivers except 2 , live in Angelo... benefits start first day... night shift is where all the $$$ is.. 30% more.. I work nights. $300 to $400 per night.. 25 miles from angelo to mertzon. . 43 from mertzon to Big lake. . Think we need 1 night driver in Mertzon yard.. apply through big lake office

I would recommend trying to get on with a company not an owner operator. Living in south Texas I have a few buddies that are leased onto good companies but company trucks get loads first. My buddies were doing two loads a day now they're down to 5 loads a week.

They understand it, they would do the same thing but still hate it.

Thanks for the quick response! That's a big increase for nights, but I've found that my vision is not what it used to be at night. Lol. So I'm really looking for day shifts, although I often work 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. now. Wife thinks Angelo is the best of our options for raising kids. Are there any day shifts in the Mertzon or Big Lake yards? I appreciate your help. Can't beat talking to someone who's actually there!
