Man, there sure is a lot of whining and complaining on this thread!
Thought I was in the rant section. . .
Of course, speaking for myself, I NEVER complain about ANYTHING. . .

Nobody told you to get married lol -
Ah, the wife ain't really the issue. Its her mom that makes me nuts. Barges in my house like she owns the place, stomps across the new carpet with her shoes on, and takes ownership of the 72" flat screen TV I just paid a small fortune for.browndawg, road_runner, Shaggy and 2 others Thank this.

You sure about that? Maybe her papa was there with a shotgun and a big smile on his face!

Hmmm, there are ways of dealing with this. I don't know if she is there for just a few days, or for an "extended visit." But if she is there for just a few days, have you considered putting her up in a motel? If that won't work, have you considered putting YOU up in a motel while she is there?
If she is there for an "extended visit," then you are kind of screwed. How does your wife feel about her? In a show down, would your wife back you, or her mother? Not a good position to put her into, but it's something you might want to keep in the back of your mind.
This is YOUR home. Of course it is also your wife's home, so a lot of how you handle this, is going to depend on how your wife feels. Just because this lady is her mother, doesn't necessarily mean that your wife wouldn't welcome her leaving.
Just as an example, due to problems that I won't go into, I detested my mom. (She's been dead for 20+ years now, and my feelings still haven't changed.)
She invited herself out to visits us one fall in California, (from Colorado.) The first thing out of her mouth when she walked into the house, was something about staying for several months, until spring, so she wouldn't have to go "through another Colorado winter." Even my kids could not stand her. How many kids do you know who can't stand their grandmother.
I just flatly told her it wasn't going to happen. She could stay for three days and no more. And I stuck to it. No, I didn't feel good about it, but I was willing, (and still am,) to do what is necessary to protect my family.Shaggy, Mike2633, browndawg and 1 other person Thank this. -
Man that is on you, she shows you no respect I assume that she feel like you are a pushover and you don't have know say what goes on in our own house. That is sad
