FYI, California Policy is 200 or less per axle they let slide, over gross 500 or more per axle you have to move the weight or your not leaving. West Bound BANNING NEVER pull thru there with anything wrong, toughest scale in Cali.Get off the ramp before the scale, go to Micky D's then sit on the shoulder of the ramp munching on fries, fixing the book and wait for the scale sign to flip to closed. Then haul butt.

Then why bother posting if you don't care at this point?Last edited by a moderator: Jan 31, 2015

Once years ago two loads going to Los Angeles where suppose to be loaded legally from a Tyson plant, & I had one of them.
When I hit the Arizona scales they stopped me, and would not let me leave till I was legal.
What happened, found out after an investigation, the grocery company paid Tyson employees to load extra chickens that were not on the BOL on these two loads.
Thankfully we had another truck coming about 3 hours behind me and when he arrived we had to transfer some chickens to this trailer, and I was able to go, them of course we had to transfer it back to my trailer, we did this after crossing the Banning scales.
They would not let me pay the ticket and go on, said to leave the scales I had to be legal weight. This was in the 70's. The truck behind me had to wait 18 hours for another one of our truck to come though the scales. I was just happy I was the 1st one.
Oh, there was no seals, I guess that adds to the problem.rank Thanks this. -
At this point probably not. They've already nabbed their "big fish".
I'm guessing they already let others go by at 34,400 or less, waiting for OP to show up.
If they see ya can't move the tandems but are close, ya might be waved through.
Our guy should have weighed it before leaving, (or if he did) had them re work the load.
Or maybe he likes payin fines *shrugs* -
Ha, no kidding. If I was there in my pickup I would take the reefer fuel off his hands.
I'm a flat bedder so I don't do seals. Assuming in this post 911 world, the consignee is very concerned about food safety/security and they refuse to allow the seal to be broken. I understand that they want accountability and traceability in the food chain and nobody wants to take responsibility for what might happens after the seal is broke. So shat happens in a case like this? Do they send a rep down to break the seal and watch the redistribution?Last edited: Jan 31, 2015

This is why you carry super glue, I wouldn't have called anyone until I had no way to possibly fix the problem...I would have busted the seal, redistributed the weight and super glued seal back together...Somehow I screwed up to get myself here(i.e. improper securing, etc.) so I'm going to do what I can first...It is what it is sometimes...1000lbs wouldn't take long to redistribute, minutes, wham bam, thank you maam!...Sorry, I'm not going to give someone the chance to say, "if you correct your problem the only possible way you can, I'm refusing load", f that...Sorry, I'll call them when I've done everything I can and the end result was the same, OOS...At that point, I don't care...
ncmickey Thanks this. -
What happens if the OP's truck wont start in the AM? Can he have it towed truck trailer and all? Tow companies must be somehow exempt from axles laws because I see them towing combinations all the time.

This thread is "interesting." The OP joined the forum yesterday, made his first post today, a short time ago, and is asking for advice. He says he has five years trucking. He says he is an O/O.
Some of the posts on here, are downright inflammatory, and I have to wonder why.
Is it because some of the posters see this OP as a troll? Is he a troll? Or is he just a guy in trouble that is asking for some help?
I have no idea, but as I said, it is an "interesting" thread.
To the OP, obviously, you have to do something. You can't just sit there forever, with a load of dead bird. Sounds like your broker is not going to help you in any way. You may wind up having to break the seal and rearrange the load. If that happens, and the consignee refuses the load, you may have bought yourself a load of chickens that you are going to have to find a way to get rid of.
You may have five years of trucking, but I'm betting you don't have much time doing reefer work. You may have to chalk this up as an expensive and time consuming lesson to scale out your load.
Good luck.
Oh yeah, the Superbowl will go on tomorrow, whether you are moving down the highway, or sitting somewhere watching it!
(I know that last sentence was unnecessary but I figured you could use a chuckle right about now.)
